I love the color of this tea kettle and it is a nice size to make a small or large pot of water. The handle seems a little flimsy though where it attached to the body (moves a little when there is 1/3 or more water in the kettle). Also, I washed the unit out when I first got it and I have used it multiple times, but there is still a weird smell inside the kettle. I don't know exactly how to describe it but it smells kind of chemically. I thought it would have dissipated by now after many uses.

Well, after a month and a half of satisfied use, we notices that the teapot is rusting. For what it is worth, the directions did warn that it should be rinsed and dried after each use to prevent rust. Apparently, the grade of materials is on the cheap side.

In attempting to replace a favorite teakettle of my mother's, I found this one and asked her to give it her okay. We both agreed it was the best looking we had seen and it was even better in "real life" than in the picture. The large copper base allows you to put it on the larger burners for heating water more quickly and the whistle is not an annoying scream-like sound like many we have had in the past. The only drawback, hence four stars instead of five, is that it is not possible to lock the pouring spout open. With an electric range, the whistle will continue for quite some time while the burner cools and while it is an acceptable whistle, I don't want to listen to it for that long. Otherwise, it's a winner!

I've read the reviews about rust before purchasing, but wanted this to go with my purple and stainless steel kitchen. I've been using it fairly usual for about two weeks now. No rust yet (I will update this posting if it does start to rust!) My only complaint right at this point, and I saw listed on previous reviews, the handle seems a bit flimsy and unreliable. It works just fine, but I pray one day, the handle doesn't just snap off when I have the kettle filled with boiling water! Also, it does not let out a loud whistle.

I like the first one so much I ordered an exact replacement.

The first thing that happened is that the red finish discolored due to heat from the other burners.
We always keep the kettle on the stove when we are cooking.
Then even worse, the kettle started rusting on the inside.
Rusting Really?
It's a kettle!!!!
Of course because it is shipped by Amazon, it only has a 30 Day return policy.
So I was screwed.
Don't buy this kettle.

Handle gets hot. But it wasn't advertised (when I bought it) as having a cool handle. My husband loves that you can't flip up the spout to make it stop whistling while the water is boiling. I hate that!

I was looking for a sturdy teakettle that would stand up to everyday use. A sturdy purple teakettle would have been even better... but this is far from sturdy. The kettle itself is very thin and lightweight and I feel like I'm going to tear off the handle every time I remove the lid. I haven't broken it yet but I fear this won't last for more than a few months. This is far more fashionable than functional.
