This knob and stem looked exactly like the other replacements that aftermarket sites offer but at a lower price. The was ford has designed this switch, knob & stem and bezel, you have to remove the "knob" from the "stem" via a small lock to remove the bezel hence access the actual switch. This one purchased, the "knob" will not come off of the "stem" correctly without breaking it. Needless to say, in the trash it went (along with the money spent). I have returned to another aftermarket site to purchase on that will work correctly!

I got this for my 2000 Ford Econoline van. This particular knob is for the newer vans. If you use it on an older one like I did you will need to shave down the back side of the plastic bezel to get it to fit on the dash correctly. Totally worth the effort as this newer style knob is more sturdy and feels nice to the touch over the old style.

Just like the OEM, and was greatly surprised that it showed up on the doorstep earlier than expected. My old knob would not stay on the shaft and this is one is working out great. Trick to install is use long screwdriver to push the release button, so you don't have to remove the light switch from the dash.

In the past I've been pleased with Doorman products and felt this would be another safe purchase. I received the product and haphazardly opened the packaging and removed the item. I immediately noticed an excessive amount of flash (extra plastic that bypasses the seam of the mold when a plastic part is injection molded) around the circumference of the knob. The flashing is right along the ribs of the knob and cannot be cleaned up without damaging the ribs and most likely damaging the aesthetics of the piece. Further review of the part brought more disappointment; the headlight icon was not only printed off center but was silver. The icons printed on every other switch, button, and knob on the vehicle are white. As the items was very inexpensive I cannot see myself going through the return process and will most likely toss into the extra parts box as a just in case. I will look elsewhere for a suitable replacement knob.

This product would not snap into place. I have a 1999 Ford Mustang GT 35 year edition. I compared the 2 rods side by side and the original rod (black one in the picture) is more rounded right next to where it clips in. I applied a lot of pressure but the replacement part would NOT snap in. Returned. Ended up going to a dealership and getting a true replacement part which easily snapped in.

For a 2003 Mustang. Took 10 minutes to install. Removed two upper screws on cover of instrument cluster and the rest unsnapped. There is a button on the back side of the switch housing to release the old shaft and then you just puch in the new one. Make sure you have it through the cluster cover when installing the new one.

The knobs quality doesnt seem bad but the knob does not disconnect from the metal stem like the orginal. Which is required to install on ford broncos and f-150s that take this "style" even though amazon and dorman says it fits.

There is one made by dorman that will work though. It is chrome and attaches to the stem by a set screw.
