This review is for Happy Trigger, the manual back deep pressure massage tool.

I have chronic lumbar back pain which makes me walk, sit, and generally move in an unnatural position. This ends up causing so many knots and pain points from my neck down. When the seller offered me a free sample for an unbiased and thorough review, I was extremely anxious to try it out.

The Happy Trigger is a very simple concept. It has a pointed, hard object that allows you to "cut through" knots and apply pressure to pressure points in your neck, shoulder, and back. If you have ever had a deep tissue massage, the massage therapist often applies pressure, usually with a knuckle, their elbow, a hot stone, or an otherwise pointy object, to break up the stiffness. The Happy Trigger essentially is a deep tissue massage in a simple tool you can do at home by yourself. The tool is curved and allows you to easily reach anywhere from your neck down. With a little maneuvering of the tool, I was easily able to reach any spot on my back. You simply pull down (or inwards) to apply a constant or pulsating pressure to your pain points.

This thing is amazing. I didn't know some spots on my back hurt until I used this! This definitely gives you that good pain kind of feeling. That pain where you go "ouch ouch ouch.....ahhhhh....OMG...." By using this tool, you can very easily break up days, months, or years worth of tension and knots and make yourself feel much better. This tool will end up increasing blood flow to the area, giving you relief from pain and also allowing the area to heal faster.

Because you are breaking up tension, you and releasing toxins into the surrounding area.

This was the first time using a deep pressure massage tool. I have heard about the TheraCane but it just seemed to big in the pictures so decided to try the Happy Trigger instead since it looked much easier to use and to bring along. I also wanted to be able to take the tool with me when I travel. I am very happy with my purchase. I have started to use the Happy Trigger every day. I wish I would have known about this tool before, because the small investment have saved me a lot of money and pain!

I was sent one of these as a review sample. It frankly took a few days for me to get the hang of it, even with the simple (and effective) instructions. Most of the learning curve is because I found it difficult to accurately place this on the pressure points that are mapped in the green fold out that ships with it.

For specific aches this is much easier to use. I was able to pinpoint them quickly and the only difficult thing was to trust the instructions and only use ten seconds of pressure and limit those to two to three repetitions. Incredibly it works.

For general treatment when you want to relax muscles and use this as a preventative measure, there are fourteen pressure points that are mapped out on the instructions. It's those that take some trial and error to pinpoint, especially since they are on your back and the tool is tricky with respect to spatial relationships (the curve and the fact that you need to feel your way blind.) However, after getting that down and performing a single, quick regimen of pressure each day I felt results in two days. One actually, but the second day the improvement was more pronounced.

Do take the time to read the instructions because there is some important information in them. They are brief and clear, and can make the difference between you harming yourself or effectively managing pain and soreness. For example, while this can be used on sore spots, it can cause damage if those spots are inflamed.

To be honest this is not for everyone. However, for folks like myself who have a lot of aches from aging and other factors, it's effective and can make a difference. It's definitely not for the impatient.

NOTE: I received a free sample of this product from the founder to review.

I was excited to try the Happy Trigger massage tool. As someone who sits all day (either in front of a computer or seeing therapy patients), I tend to build up a lot of tension in my neck in shoulders. Furthermore, I wind up getting knots or adhesions on the right side, most likely from computer mouse use. I exercise daily and incorporate quite a bit of yoga and self-massage work into my routine, but I am always looking for new ideas!

The Happy Trigger is a very simply tool: it has a wooden handle, a long metal "stem" which allows access to hard-to-reach places, and a cone-shaped wooden tip on the end for self-massage. It comes with an instruction sheet describing how to use it, including specific information on various areas of treatment such as the upper back, shoulders, jaw, backside/legs, neck, and chest muscles. I found that the Happy Trigger was most ideal for the upper back and shoulders, which was perfect for me, as these areas are where I hold most of my tension. In particular, the pointed end of the tool was nice for targeting a specific knot that I often get just inside my right shoulder blade. By rocking the Happy Trigger up and down, I found that I could really get into this specific area very nicely.

Unfortunately, there were a few ways in which I found the Happy Trigger to be less effective. First, because the wooden tip is so smooth, it easily slips on clothing, so it is difficult to keep it in the correct spot. Second, the wood tip is also quite hard--this was fine for the tough knot in my back, but less comfortable on other areas.
