My daughter 3 1/2 year old daughter (at the time I discover this) really struggled falling asleep at night. We have a quiet routine leading up to bed and she just fights it with every ounce of her being to fall asleep. When she was sick with a cough the doctor recommended Zarbee's honey syrup as a natural remedy. I discovered when she took the night formula she slept better sick than she did when she was well. That's when I discovered that it had melatonin and saw they sold it as a sleep aide. The cough medicine had 1/2 mg of melatonin and that was enough to work so I have been splitting the pills to give her the lowest dose possible. I don't' give it every day but I can tell based on behavior if I am going to need it or not. 6+ months later I am still a big fan and cannot live without it. I have spoken with her pediatrician several times about it when I first started using it and when I started using it more regularly and she gave me the thumbs up and said this has been around for decades and is very safe and effective. I love it!

I recently used this sleep aid for a my four year old while we were visiting family out of town. He always has a difficult time falling asleep in a different place. After two hours of songs, stories, and repeated complaints of "I can't fall asleep," I gave my 4-year-old one of the tablets. 20 minutes later, he was sound asleep and he slept comfortably all night.

They worked well for him, but these are no substitute for a healthy, normal bedtime routine. I think the folks at Zarbee's recognize that as the include a small pamphlet that includes tips for a helpful bedtime routine. Studies have shown that this dosage of melatonin is generally considered safe, but I wouldn't recommend using this on a regular (aka daily) basis. I would hate to see parents use this just to get the kids to sleep because they're tired of their kids getting out of bed repeatedly. However, if you do have a temporary, legitimate sleep issue, I have found these to be helpful.

My 9 year old has ADHD and has a hard time winding down at night and falling asleep. Before taking Zarbee's Natural Sleep, he rarely fell asleep before 11 pm. His pediatrician recommended 1.5 mg of melatonin so he gets 1 1/2 pills before bed. I give it to him when he is in bed ready to read or watch a movie. He falls asleep within 30 minutes. He is finally going to bed at a normal time and getting the amount of sleep he needs!

Did not find them to be as effective and consistent as other brands of children's sleep aids such as Ozzzz's and Tired Teddies.
Also was suspicious of the bottle I so put it to the test 2 minutes ago and watched my 1 year old remove the supposedly childproof cap.

Life saver! My children are night owls. Even with lights out they will stay up until 11-12 just playing quietly in their room and then be exhausted and cranky all day. I cut these chewables in FOURTHS and give them 1/4 of one and they are asleep in 30 minutes. I try not to use these every night but they sleep better and wake on their own after having these. The kids think they're delicious so all around favorite family product and can't go anywhere without them!

Each of my kids probably goes through 1 box a year of these, and they are a God-send. We're good about a bedtime schedule and routine, but these work great for times like coming back from vacation and getting back into routine, or the night before big events (like the first day of school) where stress/anticipation prevent sleep. We give half the recommended dose after a bath and then brush teeth and read their bedtime books and they're always out within 30 minutes.
