Tagg recently updated the product, including the zipper, to compensate for the issues. Unfortunately, it was never put through endurance testing the first time around. The new one is a bit better, but even so, I'm still on my first one from almost two years ago. It's so easy for the tracker to get snagged on something and pop off, so it's important to protect your investment and put the Guard on it.

I was really worried reading all the reviews: it doesn't fit, zipper doesn't work, etc. This was the only option available for my dog's Tagg, though. Since the Tagg's clip broke, I thought I'd try this temporarily, and I will be using it with the new Tagg when it arrives.

It looks like cloth online. It's actually neoprene. My dog's collar is 3/4 inch and it fits that. I don't think it will fit a larger collar. The zipper works. It's supposed to zip around the end so that I could tuck it inside securely, but it doesn't do that. So far, it doesn't look like the zipper will slide open on its own.

My dog is not so active that the Tagg is always falling off. It does fall off sometimes, and it's a pain when that happens. I'm hoping they make a Tagg that will emit a sound when it falls off, but this case should help prevent that from happening at all. The fit is good and it looks secure. So far, I'm happy with it.

UPDATE 8/6/14: I was finally able to get the zipper to turn the corner. It tucks in like it should and it's very secure. The trick was not to do it while the collar is on my dog.

Considering that the clip on this Tagg is broken to the point where the Tagg will not lock onto the collar at all, the Tracker Guard has been 100% successful at keeping it on her collar. It would work incredibly well with a Tagg that was not broken at all.

I'm still awaiting the Tagg replacement, but I'm happy to know I don't need to worry about ever losing my Tagg again.

UPDATE 12/8/14: Four months. That's all it lasted until the zipper broke. I was happy with it until today.

The guard does protect the tracker and provide a little extra protection, but the zipper is pretty flimsy. This is actually my second one as the first one i had, the zipper broke off for no apparent reason. While not thrilled about the zipper, it has saved me from losing the tracker a few times as my pup would wrestle other pups and the tracker would become lose, the guard would hold it in place long enough for me to get the warning sent to my phone.

I bought this because my dog's Tagg tracker had occasionally become dislodged from his collar, either in play or because of his scratching at it. It didn't happen often, but after one incident where it came off during play with another dog and I had to spend a bit of time finding exactly where it landed, I finally went ahead and bought the guard. It is a great idea and I'm entirely happy that I bought it. It does keep the tracker securely in place and the stretchy material adds minimal bulk and smooths out the edges that could catch and cause it to dislodge. My main complaint and the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the zipper doesn't stay completely zipped and often works open about a quarter to a half inch. My dog wears a 1 inch wide collar, and the guard does have a very tight fit over this, so if you use it with a 3/4 inch collar you may not have this problem. Although it is easy to get the tracker off for charging by unzipping the guard without removing the collar, I've found it very difficult to reattach the tracker and get the guard zipped up without removing the collar completely. Not a deal breaker for me, but can be a hassle sometimes. Despite my complaints, I do think it is worth the investment to protect the tracker and would definitely recommend it.

We had issues with Tagg Tracker detaching from collar. Once in a while, the Tracker would detach, while dog was being trained in the field, and we were always able to locate it but we were afraid that one day we would not. Our main fear was that the Tracker would detach and we then would not be able to locate dog. I saw the Guard initially on the Tagg website and decided it was a needed product for the above reasons, and purchased it. It does well keeping the Tracker secured to collar. We have not had another detachment. The only complain that I had was that the zipper kept opening and eventually it broke. Once the zipper broke, I purchased the second Guard thru Amazon. I had hoped that the manufacturer had improved the zipper or that the first one I had purchased had a defect but unfortunately the zipper is still keeps opening. Next time, I will definitely search to see if there is a similar product by another manufacturer.

My 2 dogs play rough and bite at each others' necks. This thing works great and keeps the tagg from popping off or getting chewed up or broken. This guard also keeps the unit in place if my dogs are running through the brush in the woods. Great buy!

I agree with other reviews that the zipper does come unzipped frequently about 1" of the way. This is not enough for it to fall off but it is annoying and I feel like I am zipping it back up every couple of days. This is with a 3/4" collar that is made of thin material so I know it's not unzipping because the collar is too wide or thick.

PS - My Tagg Tracker kit came with it included in the box!
