This costume is totally adorable, but not well executed. I bought the XXL based on the size chart, which says that is what fits a pit bull. A smaller size definitely would not have fit him. That said, not all pit bulls are created equal in size! My dog is about 70lbs. but many pits are much larger or smaller, and the costume would not fit larger for sure if they have broad shoulders or a muscular chest.
My dog has broad shoulders and a bit of a muscular chest, so I could only get the velcro on the front of the suit to stay closed when he was sitting up. You have to pull the collar up as much as you can, velcro it shut in three places and hope the dog doesn't move much (yeah right). The second he lays down it pops open. Additionally, it is WAY TOO LONG. I don't know what dog that size is as long as this costume is! You can see in the photo that it hangs down well past his rear end. I had to pull it way up and pin it into place, and pin it under his belly so he wouldn't pee on it when he went outside. It fit a little loosely around his belly.
The hat doesn't stay on at all. It has parachute cord with one of those plastic do-hickeys that you slide up and down to tighten/loosen. Well it didn't work. It comes undone constantly right after you tighten it. The hat only stays on when the dog holds still, which in my case was long enough for me to take some photos while bribing him with treats. Quality-wise, expect it to be just like any other Halloween costume. They're made of cheap material that isn't meant to last long.
Overall, I love the costume idea, and it's very cute for the brief moments you can get your dog to hold still and look cute, but it's a terrible design with awkward measurements. I would not recommend this costume unless you feel like fussing with it all night.

Love this costume! My dog Kingston went to a birthday party as a gangster pup with his "flapper" date and he received so many compliments! Kingston's about 30 lbs and the Large fit great. It was a little long on his torso, but nothing that an easy hemming couldn't fix. I highly recommend this especially for the value!
