When I ordered this little chest for my bathroom, I was impressed with everything I read about it. I particularly liked the fact that the description of the chest said it was "easy to assemble." Maybe it was a reviewer who said that---I can't remember where I read it--- but because I am married to a wonderful man who is not very good at putting things together, the whole business about ordering a chest that was "easy to assemble" appealed to me.

It arrived beautifully packed. This company knows how to ship their stuff.

The directions looked simple enough, quite a few pages with pictures, but written at the top of the first page was "Adult Assembly." Uh, oh, I thought. That's a bad sign. Now I have to tell you that my wonderful husband graduated from law school, but he had trouble assembling this chest. It came in many, many pieces. I think all those pieces would have been strewn around our living room for the next month if I hadn't already hired a carpenter to fix a fence in our back yard. He and his friend put it together in an hour.

Is it everything I wanted it to be? YES! I love my little chest. I'd go through all this again if I had to, but I felt obligated to let other people, with handyman handicapped husbands, know what they're getting into. Good luck!

I recently bought another little cabinet like this and so my review is somewhat a comparison to the other piece which was very clearly labeled. This piece on the other hand was not clearly labeled, as a matter of fact most pieces had no labels. The hardware was labeled correctly. First off the packaging was very poor. The box was too weak, had been taped multiple times, was slightly too wide and therefor had several holes punched through. Upon unpacking, I realized that the right side piece had a crack as well as a cross piece had broken off (belongs to the drawer assembly) that was screwed in on the left hand side. Now my husband had to drill two new holes - and those later interfered with the drawer assembly. The drawer. That was the worst of the entire assembly. It came together easy enough but the instructions for the metal glider hardware of the drawer always spoke of part 'N' and only one part was labeled 'N' - it turned out that this was not the part required for the drawer itself but eventually went on the side piece of the cabinet. So finally we decided that it was indeed the other two parts (unlabeled but the instructions called for 'N') that needed to go on the drawer. The instructions also were not clear in which direction the wheels of the assembly should face - you need to figure this out yourself. Same is true for the glider hardware that is affixed to the inside of the cabinet. We aligned the holes to the part that was labeled 'N' and screwed it to the left hand side as per instruction and the corresponding part to the right hand side. Then we tried to slide the drawer in which was not possible. That is when we realized that the glider hardware was screwed in up-side-down and 'N' really belonged on the right hand side.Read more ›

Was really looking forward to this since it looked like a reallu nice design and perfect size however very poorly made...The drawer is off by a quarter inch which is very apparent and makes the drawer hard to open and close...the doors are off alignment as well so you can see a quarter inch gap between them and the color of the paint is different from the doors and the outside trim...overall very disappointed...

This is a really good cabinet and fit my needs perfectly. It took the better part of the morning to put together, but then, someone with more experience might get it together in an hour.

Pros:

1) Only requires a Phillips screwdriver to put together.
2) Each piece and part was well-labeled. The instructions included the usual parts description and picture page, but also each piece had a little sticker on it that corresponded to the written description. I.e. Part 1 - there is a picture of part 1 in the instructions and Part 1 has a sticker with a 1 on it.

Minor issues:

1) Instructions say electric screwdriver is not recommended. I took this advice and really irritated my tendonitis trying to drive in screws that just had starter holes. I finally gave in and used my electric, and it was so much better. I could have shaved at least an hour off my assembly time, and probably would have had a sturdier end result.
2) Some of the instructions seem out of order. It has you put the large pieces together, then install the hardware. In many cases, it would have been easier to install the hardware first.
3) Those handy part stickers have very strong adhesive. I had to go over the piece with goo gone afterwards to get off all the leftover adhesive.
4) The instructions for the drawer slides were not specific about which part of the slide needed to attach to which part of the drawer, and the pictures were so small you couldn't really tell which way a piece went. Some people might be familiar with drawer slides and wouldn't find this a problem, but this was my first drawer and I installed in backwards on my first attempt.
4) I wish it had one more shelf.

Overall the end result is just great. But I do think the assembly instructions could be improved upon.
