Carhatt is going downhill with popularity

I live in remote Alaska and work in the field so my clothing, especially my outerwear, really gets put to the test. Two years ago I bought Carhartt's breathable rain jacket and loved it. The jacket was made from super durable material with superior fit and function for real outdoor use. Even in Southeast Alaska it was a great rain jacket without being unbreathable rubber. Unfortunately the jacket was lost and I needed to replace it. Just one year later on the same jacket, the outer fabric is now totally cheap and flimsy, the jacket is not as thick or warm, the snaps on the hood don't stay shut and details like thumb holes on the inner sleeve have been removed. The jacket is now made in China. I can't believe Carhartt, who sells themselves as providing durable workclothes, sold out so much on genuine quality. Not to mention it's not an inexpensive purchase. Carhartt has become so popular in recent years that I fear they are selling their name and image now rather producing a good product. I also wonder whether this is more true in the women's department, which is insulting to say the least. Next time I'll go for a Grundens if I want a real jacket for the elements.

Buyer beware!

Buyer beware: Carhartt makes a mens' jacket out of a different, much better nylon fabric. They used to make a womens' jacket out of the same material, item #WJ002 - Carhartt Women's Waterproof Breathable Jacket. Carhartt has since discontinued this jacket, and now makes two very similar jackets with the same material, similar names, but different fabric types that are more typical of common windbreakers. There's this one, #100054 - Women's Cascade Jacket, and also #WJ019 - Women's Women's Downburst Waterproof Breathable Jacket. As many people who own the original jacket (including myself) have noticed, the new jackets are nowhere near as good as the original one (#WJ002). I have complained to Carhartt about this. I explained to them that the original jacket earned raving 5-star reviews, and the new ones are getting a lot of negative reviews, especially by people that loved the original one. Carhartt was very responsive and told me that their womens' line changed frequently due to customer reviews. I can only hope that they will re-continue the Waterproof Breathable Jacket in the future.

Best Carhartt purchase in a while

I have bought 3 Carhartt jackets this season with mixed results. Loved one, liked one and hated one so when I got this jacket and loved it I was pleasantly surprised. It is a great quality, lightweight, rain jacket. This is for spring/summer rains not cold weather rains. I guess I missed the part about the 'interior storm cuffs' when I was purchasing this but they are awesome! This is feature I would expect to find in a pricey jacket from North Face or Marmot or something and I'm happy with Carhartt for the upgrade.

It fits true to size.

Perfect spring rain jacket

We are having a rainy and cooler than normal spring, and this jacket has been just right for our weather this year. I echo another reviewer's comments that this is not a cold weather jacket, but it is also not a summer weight rain jacket either. It would get pretty hot and steamy if worn any warmer than 75F.
I love the pockets and I love the inside cuffs that help keep rain and whatever else from going up your arms.
I purchased this jacket based upon recommendation from Organic Gardening magazine for working in the garden, and they right!

Style has changed within the last year.

The style had changed from the original product I wanted to order. I was very disappointed with the changes, but the return policy & shipping costs would have taken the gift card amount my daughter gave me. So I reluctantly kept the jacket.

Perfect Jacket

I've never seen so many large pockets in a jacket. Light weight, not bulky while driving.It's water repellant. I wish there were more colors, I would get them all. I have purchased both colors.

I like it but had to go up a size

I like the jacket because it is light weight. I did have to go up a size because it was tight in my under arm area. I would not wear a sweater or anything to thick with the jacket.

Love this jacket! Feels more quality made than a lot of other top brands, for less money too! Keeps me perfectly dry when I'm walking my dog in the rain. I'm 5'7" 120lbs and I got a small. Fits well with enough room for a hoodie underneath if it's cooler out.

It wil suit is purpose
