A nice little shovel for 5-bucks and it’s fine for my small wood stove but not so good for the larger one. The box on my small stove is only about 12-inches deep so this shovel is perfect and using the longer handle shovel from my fireplace I was always bumping it and dropping ashes but this one is easy to handle. I can’t use it on my larger stove because my arm hits the sides of the opening and the soot rubs off onto me or my sleeves. No complaints with this one so it gets 5-stars and the price was great.

It was a cheap little fireplace shovel, so I'm not too surprised about the quality, although I wish a quality option was available. The handle bend the first time I used it. As long as you only use it to scoop ashes and not scrape them toward you (that's what bent the handle), it does alright shoveling up the coal and ashes that the ash vacuum can't get.

I bought this originally for cleaning ashes out of a large outdoor fire pit. Perfect for that use---the handle is just long enough to keep my hand out of the mess, but not so long that it's unwieldy. The metal is lightweight but certainly strong enough for scooping ash and bits of unburnt wood. It's not at all decorative, just functional.
