I'm right with you guys who have recently reviewed. My last order on January 10th was exactly how you all have described. However, being a weekly customer, this was the only bad batch of seeds I have ever received from FTL. I orderer one last bag due to arrive tomorrow, and I'm hoping I somehow end up with some decent seeds (although from what I've been reading it seems as though FTL's product has turned to crap, just like every other poppy seed vendor on Amazon).

EDIT JANUARY 15TH:

I received the bag I ordered today, and same story. Horrible seeds. However, I just had a conversation with FTL customer service and they have acknowledged this problem, which is why they have temporarily stopped selling. They are looking for seeds from a new source, and plan to have them on sale in 24-48 hours. I was also told there would be a significant price increase. While I do not appreciate the quality of these past few orders, I do appreciate FTL's honesty, and plan on trying to order once more when they get the seeds from the new source.

I'm so happy to read identical experiences to mine. I ordered consistently since August and from no one else. Every order was consistently perfect and the same. But I opened a box 2 days ago that looked identical smelled pretty good but made An unusually dark bitter batch. After having far far more than I usually use I still felt nothing but sickness and anxiety from my purchase. These were completely different and completely useless. I am so upset as I have depended on FTL for months and now I Am lost. The next 5 days at work will sure be fun.

I have ordered from them in the past and they were very consistent unwashed seeds. I just placed 3 orders in the last few weeks and they have been the best I have found on Amazon. Hope they stay just as good. They are a little bit pricier but well worth it.

I recently received a BAD batch of Food to Live poppy seeds. I've been ordering from FTL for months now, because of the consistently high quality of their seeds. However, the last bag of seeds I purchased were downright awful (I bought a 4 lb. package). They looked more or less the same as they always have; however, upon opening the bag, I immediately noticed the smell was different. I went ahead and prepared them as usual, and the taste was AWFUL. Downright acrid and bitter. And they certainly didn't satisfy my craving for fresh poppy seed goodness. And other purchasers have shared similar stories with me.

This isn't to say that FTL won't sort stuff out and be back with the same fantastic quality in the future, but the product they're selling right now is terrible, compared to what they've had in the past.

I use the seeds to brew tea for my Irritable bowel syndrome, celiac and my stomach ulcers. . . also for my diarrhea. . . sorry to be blunt, but the tea was essential to my daily life, without it i go to the rest room 10 times a day!

The last few batches of tea has not thickened my stool and no longer takes my bloating away like many pure poppy seeds do. . .

I hope they fix this problem soon. . . very sad.

I've taken this up with Amazon customer support, but I had to let everyone know that these are NOT (As of April 2014) Papaver Somniferum seeds! These are Papaver Rhoeas seeds.

I've been growing plants (and poppies) for years. I know a true Somniferum when I see one and I've been very disappointed to find that these seeds do not produce the desired plant.

I hope others stay away from this vendor, and I will do my best to ensure that they do.
