Let me start by saying that I have been waiting for a device like this for years. Something that would allow the world wide web to come to your living room without the need to connect your Mac/PC or other HTPC that would cost a couple of hundred or more. Something inexpensive but simple to launch and operate. Now that being said, the device is simple enough but it's not plug and play. The MX2 requires work and research, but once that's over the device is a true wonder.

I had hoped the Boxee box or google TV might have been the answer to bringing unfettered access to the internet into the living room, but too many restrictions and limitations made those options not viable. I jailbroke my ATV2 but encountered to many bugs and once you've jailbroken more than once it gets tiresome after awhile and the bugs just...well they bug you enough to outweigh the benefits.

Now comes the Mx2. I did not own the first Mx and I will admit I am not a android fan (think the OS is sloppy and really not very user friendly). I love Mac and always will but it's an enclosed system that limits and nothing, not even a jailbroken ATV2 was enough to give me want I want.

The Mx2 does and more. It's purely the best way, as far as I know, to access a ton of media, whether it's your own or located on the web...all with barely any restrictions or limits.

The Mx2 comes with a browser ( a good one might I add ), android apps ( and access to the android app store ), and XMBC, a true portal to ultimate entertainment. BE WARNED this device could engage you for HOURS...so if you got kids and a spouse be prepared to be yelled at! But seriously, it does so much you will be truly entertained for hours!

I bought this media box but I didn't want to write a review until after I used it long enough to get it figured out and give a knowledgeable review.

WARNING: If you are looking for a simple plug and play device that doesn't need a little setup and configuration, then go buy a Roku or Apple TV or some other idiot proof device. This device is an Android computer that will allow you to watch movies and tv shows for free..........so to me it's worth the little bit of hassle in the beginning.

ALSO: If you just buy the box and the 1 controller you will probably be unhappy. It's not easy to navigate with it. But if you get any of the air mouse / G-mouse, or wifi keyboard with touchpad on it then you will have a much better experience. I have a G-mouse 2 which is made by the same company that makes this media box. I also have a logitech K400 wifi keyboard with touchpad. I use them both. The bad thing is that you have to use the original remote to turn the MX2 on and off. Unless you want to plug and unplug the power supply which will do the same thing. I use the G-mouse 2 for everyday video surfing and I use the Logitech k400 keyboard/trackpad for days when I'm replying to emails or have a lot of writing to do.

This thing is loaded with bloatware and other nasty things that will bog down the wifi signal. A quick check of the internet told me that a factory reset should fix that. After having slow transfer rates and videos taking too long to buffer I finally decided to do a factory reset. Just go into the regular android settings and look for the factory reset. Once it completes you will have a stock Android OS that is clean and neat. But.......now you will have to install XBMC yourself.Read more ›

this g-box mx2 is almost flawless and is near perfect, stable, sleek and powerful! xbmc is perfect and doesn't crash ever for me a++++ matricom!the g-box mx2 is a leader in this market and I see them shooting for the stars keep up the good work and churning out great products. I would suggest the 1channel app from Google play store and navi x app from Google play store along with the TV portal app from amazon app store also large number of repository's are available from xbmc hub and xbmc.org for the excellent custom xbmc build that comes pre installed on this great box

I am not going to lie, i did enjoy this box, it was a nice box, I am writing this review because my box stop work for no reason, i bought this december 2014, you guys have no way to contact you, i reset the box, that still didn't work, then i tried re-installing Kodi, now it telling me i have no space, so i check the space and it says zero 0 space left. there is nothing on it but what is install on it which i cant un-install, i clear the cache on all the apps, i disable the apps and nothing. so my question to you guys is can you guy help me to fix this since your box is not cheap, i have seen cheaper but i decided to go with your box because i had the impression that the cheaper ones were no good but i think i was wrong, so i need some help here. i did nothing wrong to the box it was sitting in one place and all of a sudden it just stop working now i have to be watching kodi on my computer which defeat the whole purpose of me getting this box to watch kodi on my TV in the first place.
