Don't go in expecting a $100 knife, and you won't be disappointed.
The knife overall is a nice clean design, and the construction is pretty good.
The handle appears to be real micarta/phenolic, and has a nice pattern due to the cross-cut pattern.
However, it's a bit thin for larger hands like mine. I'd have preferred that they cut less and left it a big thicker, but that's minor.
The blade itself is well ground and comes fairly sharp. The blade finish isn't great, but fine for my purposes. I plan to use it as a cheap bush knife for my secondary go bag. I have other knives for primary use.
The sheath isn't much to brag about, but it works.
It looks and feels cheap, and doesn't hold the knife all that securely. Don't expect to be able to hang it tip-up on a pack or rig without adding some additional securing lines.

Don't listen to the negative reviews on this knife. There is no company around, that is offering a fixed blade knife like this "for both quality and price" ! 1) The knife is 440C stainless steel. 2) The handle has micarta scales, that is "comfortable" in the hand. 3) You get a nice sheath that not only has ties for strapping this on your leg, it also has velcro loops for possible horizontal carry options, just as on a belt, shoulder strap or molle straps. The sheath also has a small pocket\pouch that as a buckle strap to for the top flap. You can put a lot of small survival items in here like matches, first aid, maybe some paracord. One final note, the knife is "not" thin, you can easily baton wood with this, with no issues.

This is one of the better quality knives offered by M-Tech. It came very sharp out of the box. You simply can not beat this knife for the price and quality. Alfa Benetti offers the same knife for 50 dollars. This Mx-8064 is definitely worth at least 50 bucks. This one is in line with the likes of Schrade, S & W and others like it. Will slice through paper right out of the box. I nicked my thumb removing the plastic from a roll of Sorpressata.
Someone said they used it to baton wood, while this knife is small, I suppose you can if you are building a mini log cabin. LOL.
I highly recommend this one. The sheath is Cordura nylon, it is a little better than some other simple / basic sheaths (would prefer plastic).
Get one while the price is still low!
It is 440c, it is coated with titanium. Says so on the reverse, you will need a magnifying lens.though.

At the $16.51 that I paid for it I have nothing bad to say about this knife. It is sturdy and designed to be functional and not just look cool like many M-tech knives are (Honestly some M-techs are outlandishly designed and pretty much useless). Good balance to this knife too and it fits in my hand nicely. It is worth mentioning that Colt and United Cutlery also sell this same knife as the CT443 and the UC2804, only difference is the logos on the blades are different, color of the blade is different (the colt is black) and they come with a Kydex sheaths while the the M-tech version comes with a nylon molle style sheath. The Colt and United Cutlery versions of this knife both seem to sell for around $25 to $30+.

I have noticed the price of this knife can vary and go up and down on Amazon, so if it is still going for $16.51 while you are reading this review I would recommend getting one. You will be getting your money's worth for sure at that price.

Alright so here's a little update after my initial review. I still really like this knife but one thing I don't like are the torx tip bolts that hold the handle together. Not sure what the technical name for them is, I think they may be called barrel bolts but by all means someone please correct me if I am wrong. I took them out and noticed they seem a bit shorter and smaller than they should be and will loosen more easily than they should because of this. I modified my knife by gluing the handle slabs in place with Goop ( a type of adhesive/glue) and then to make sure the torx tip bolts don't loosen so easily I used gel super glue inside them and tightened them well. If you know what size to get you might just want to replace the bolts with something better and more sturdy than what comes stock on this knife.

For what this is, a $20ish knife, it is absolutely 5 stars. People have to keep that in mind when buying & reviewing this knife. I believe it even goes against $35-$55 knives this size quite well. I got mine 3 days ago & am in the middle of a week long camping trip on my motorcycle with some friends. When I got it, it was shaving sharp, the bald spot on my hand proves it. I ran it a few times on my strop just to get a nice polished edge on it & it sliced newspaper push cutting after that. My sheath fits the knife perfect with absolutely no wiggle. It has a small piece of foam running on each side inside the plastic insert which holds it very nice & provides some resistance. Since a sheath like the one it comes with sells for about $8 - $10 separately, given that it comes with this knife is quite amazing. I keep my Leatherman Wave in the small pocket on the front of the sheath. I wanted the largest knife I could comfortably carry when riding my motorcycle with all my gear on & this knife fits that bill perfectly. So far on this camping trip I have used it to cut para-cord, 3/8 inch nylon rope, nylon webbing, feather sticks, batoning a few dozen logs after I cut them in half with my hatchet, light chopping, de-limbing & food prep. It is still sharp & shows minimal signs of wear. The handle is very comfortable for me & the fact that is is a good material like Micarta & not just cheap hollow plastic like on so many others I looked at is a bonus. I even used the pommel to hammer in my tent spikes every night to test that function, it worked great. Tonight I am going to run a diamond rod on the blade as general maintenance sharpening as I would on any of my knives after this type of use.Read more ›
