The first one we ordered was defective, the light wouldn't switch on. The second worked fine, although we had to take some pliers and bend the legs to fit the screws on our old wiring harness. Also the top plate was difficult to unscrew, we needed to do that so it would fit in the switch housing. After messing around with this after the first install, it only took five minutes to switch this out the second time (not including muscling the top plate off). Our ugly old globe for our candelabra bulb light did not fit after this (we are using 14 watt LEDs now), however; we are looking for a larger replacement.

I had a lighting kit go bad under warranty and it is on backorder for almost 2 months so rather then having a room without a light for that long I looked for a new light kit but I wanted to get away from the small candelabra light bulbs that are energy wasters and run very hot. There wasnt much to choose from to convert to CFL/LED and then I found this. It matches up perfectly with the existing hunter fan. The color of this light kit was insignificant to me because I have a bowl light that covers it all up anyway. I didnt use the hardware from this kit either (gives you 3 sets = dark brown, silver, and brass) since I reused my old hardware. I didnt use the CFL bulbs either as I went straight to LED bulbs which also fit just fine in this light kit. I am using this product in a way not thought of by the manufacturer. Two of our Hunter ceiling fans came with candelabra sized lamp sockets. They came with a Zing Ear 301d socket set. We have our ceiling fan/lights on dimmers so there were no a lot of choices for CFL bulbs. I tried using candelabra LED bulbs, but they are too dim to light up a room.
Using this kit that comes with the Zing Ear 310d socket set for standard base bulbs, I was able to retrofit our two fans to take standard sized LED bulbs and now we get lots of light out of our ceiling fans. A pricey retrofit, but better than buying new fans.
Don't try this unless you have some mechanical aptitude, you have to swap parts between the two bowl fitters, but it is possible and in the end everything looks like factory.

Note that this will fit a "6" series Casablanca Panama fan 6688Z (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003VPIV02/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1). Probably best to stick with CFL or LED bulbs in it though, not sure if it would handle the wattage of incandescents.

Purchased this to "FIX" the standard light kit that comes with the Regalia purchasable at Lowe's. The kit that comes with the Regalia (and it seems most Hunter fans these days) uses a Candelabra base bulb. It nearly impossible to properly light a room with anything other than an incandescent (read inefficient ) bulbs. Especially if you want a dimming or home automation controlled switch... With this you can put in 2 100w LEDs and get 3600 Lumens for 36W and really I run it at about 70% max power meaning about 2500Lumens and 25W. Or I guess I could slap in the 3 60 W incandescent candelabra bulbs Hunter included and burn 180w for about the same light output and keep driving global warming and my power bill...
