This product offers OK value for money, but not if you intend to use it for therapeutic purposes. For that you need significant more active ingredients; 13 % polysaccharides (no beta-glucans are specified, which are the ACTUAL bioactives !) are too little. It appears to be IDENTICAL to the much more expensive ReishiMax (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004YTG4SA) if you look at the specifications. Despite that, to get actual therapeutic benefits you need to take more than the recommended dosage; AT LEAST 5 capsules daily, not 2. (This is based on science, research points out that the more beta-glucans the better when it comes to immune support) Meaning it will cost you at least $ 1.75 per day. All of a sudden it doesn't seem so cheap anymore.

I've used for quite some time the oriveda reishi primo (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ESEUGJE), which offers twice the bioactive ingredients for way less money. What I liked in particular is the guaranteed percentage of beta-glucans, which are the most important bioactive ingredients in medicinal mushrooms; 27% guaranteed beta-glucans is the best in the market.

Life Extension does not specify beta-glucans, only polysaccharides, which can also be starch or chitin or other non-bio-active carbohydrates.

To get more or less the same amount of active ingredients you'd get from taking 5 Life Extension Reishi capsules you only need 2 Reishi Primo capsules, which adds up to ± $ 1 daily. That's almost half the price!

Hard to tell what this has done for me since I am also on chemo for metastatic kidney cancer, but Reishi mushroom has a good reputation for being a good cancer fighter. The extract is supposed to be the way to go, not just ground up Reishi. Several Asian mushrooms are supposed to be good.
BTW, one of my doctors, a nutritionist, suggested to NOT eat any mushrooms raw, always cooked!

I have never written a review before , but this product deserves it. I am an older women that was diagnosed with an immune system disease. After being extremely active my life took a huge turn for years. I started taking this product 3 months ago and it kicked in . I have been going to the gym 5 days a week . I feel like my pain level has declined .

Several months ago I did some research for alternatives to long term use of prescription medications for sleep and anxiety. I opted to give Life Extension Reishi Extract a try in addition to Passion Flower and Lemon Balm Leaf. ...I also starting taking Reishi, Ginsing, Fish Oil capsules. I have greatly benefited from my new regime of supplements which was greatly beneficial in doing a drug taper from Rx's. Now, I have restful sleep and I no longer experience anxiety and panic attacks... And dealing with intense stress factors, that says a lot! I bought this and after about a week of taking it regularly, I started breaking out very badly. Large bumps which in a day or two turned into cysts that took a long time to heal and left scars.
I was taking it with combination of vit. B12 and other supplements claiming to boost the immune system.
After over a month of suffering with my skin, I finally went to a dermatologist and an internal medicine specialists and they both, independently of each other, advised that these supplements are to blame.
I am a woman in her 30s with no previous history and acne. Just be advised that it is a possible side effect.
