Not sure why all the bad reviews. Unboxed and setup without any issues. Used the B setting and 1 cup. Placed solofill cup with lid open in placed and hit start. Solofill cup filled up to the line, no mess anywhere. Placed cup in Keurig machine and out came a perfect cup of coffee. No problems at all.

I've been using the Solofill K3 GOLD CUP 24K Plated Refillable Filter Cup for Coffee Pod for about a month using store bought pre-ground coffee with decent results. I had been wanting to try to grind my own beans but all of the grinders are setup to grind at least 3 cups worth at once and I didn't want to keep that much around. This product seemed to be like a perfect match for my needs.

The box came with no instructions whatsoever. I'm not sure if that's intentional or an oversight as they're not really needed but getting the best use out of this grinder becomes a lot of trial and error. There's a dial on the back to select grind level (fine (A) to coarse (D)) and a dial on the front numbered 1 - 10. The front dial is interesting because it doesn't appear to be a measure of time nor cups of coffee to grind. As another reviewer points out setting the dial to 1 will grind for about 11 seconds. Setting the dial to 2 will grind for 12 seconds, 3 - 13 seconds, etc;
The grinder comes with two receptacles - One to grind into the solofill cup (as pictured) and a clear container to just grind into it like a typical grinder.

The solofill cup container contains a spring loaded mechanism that the cup fits into - Just lower it, put the cup into it and it will "lock" itself into the spout above.
Grinding itself is a matter of experimentation and personal taste. I left the "timer" set at 1 which seems to fill the k-cup just the right amount regardless of grind. I find that anything under a "B" grind (more fine) tends to have too much residue in the coffee and anything greater than "C" (more coarse) doesn't have as much flavor.

To prevent the mess the other two reviewers talked about. Set grind to one notch before B and timer to 3. These settings work perfectly for me with no mess.

In my opinion, the one major problem with the Keurig machines is that you are not brewing freshly ground coffee. I've tried to fill the reusable pod with coffee I've ground in my old blade grinder but I always have extra left over that I end up throwing away. This seems to solve that problem so I decided to buy this at Bed Bath & Beyond because it fills the Keurig cup and also has a container for grinding enough beans for a drip coffee maker.

Yes, the timer setting at number 1 or 2 seems like too much for the K-cup, but there is a big button on the top of the machine that says STOP. I'm using the included reusable k-cup along with EZ-Cup filters and count 1 one thousand, 2 one thousand, 3 one thousand and press the STOP button. It's perfect! I'm getting better tasting coffee out of the Keurig than any of the K-Cup varieties I've tried. A 4 one thousand count would give you a stronger brew without overflowing also. The EZ-Cup filters make cleaning the reusable cup extremely easy - quick 2 second rinse and let dry.

I'm wondering if the people that have had trouble have not noticed the Stop button and may not have the container fully clicked into position.

Really cool kitchen gadget!!

It worked fine for a couple weeks but now all it does is cut coffee beans into giant chunks that produce light brown dirty coffee water when used in a keurig machine. I've messed with the courseness settings and can't seem to get the thing to produce anything resembling ground coffee.

I received this as a Christmas gift.
If it came with better instructions, I would have given it five stars. Through trial and error, I figured out that setting it to 1 and grinding it at B, produced good results. It's economical, more environmentally friendly and fresher.
Great product.

Well, after reading the horror stories here I was quite concerned because I bought the unit before I read the reviews. But I just opened the box, plugged it in and used it without even bothering to read the instructions. although I did have some insight on how to set it from the reviews. My conclusion - No problems. Not a ground to be found on my counter top. Grind is fine. I set it to B and number 1 for the k-cup fill and number 11 for filling the larger reservoir. The k-cup filled to the perfect height. So I have no idea what happened to these other folks who ripped this thing apart in their reviews but I'm very satisfied.

Here's a follow up to my first review. After four months of using this I still think that for the money this machine is great. What I've since found out about it, however, is that for filling k-cups the grind and fill settings must be at their minimums to work best, and, you can't use other cups. You have to use the K cup that came with, or is designed for this machine, otherwise you'll get overfilling and a bit of a mess, even at the lowest settings. Other than that, I'm still using it every day and I am satisfied.
