I was very excited to purchase this as the iPhone 5's battery life is so miserable, and I was on the way to a conference. The idea is great - you can pop your phone out of the bulkier battery pack until you need a boost, and it's easy to charge. It doesn't give you 100% battery, but it's enough so that you don't have to worry about running out of battery in a 24 hour period.

HOWEVER, my pleasure turned to dismay when within DAYS, the top of the inner/smaller case started cracking. And then more cracks, and more cracks... It has now been 4 weeks, and a big piece finally broke off. I have not once dropped or banged my phone on anything since buying this case. Seeing as I paid $80 for this case (in an airport, not on Amazon), I am pretty bummed about this.

I recommend finding a similar design, but a different and more reliable brand.

I bought a Boostcase a few months ago and it was working well for a time. However, the micro-USB connector broke loose and the battery wouldn't charge. I contacted the manufacturer about a warranty replacement and they flat-out refused to honor their one-year warranty. Their response was: "Unfortunately since your product was discounted, we are unable to move forward this as there is no existing warranty with the product. If you view your proof of purchase, you will see that the product is unfortunately sold by Amazon, therefore will need to be dealt with this issue through them. Luckily, Amazon does offer a replacement/return program for unsatisfied customers. Please visit the link below to see if the product has an existing warranty for a replacement/return. If your product is under warranty with them, they will give you a prepaid label to ship back and go from there".

I was unaware that my product was "discounted" and Amazon returns window was only one month. There is no "Amazon Warranty". Further back-and-forths with the company have proven fruitless. Good luck if you own one of these. The company certainly doesn't back the product.

The boost case is a great product but if you drop the phone the case may break. My daughter has only had the case a week and it is already broken so fare warning if you aren't careful and drop your phone it may not be a good product for you!

I had a Boostcase for my iPhone 4, and the company replaced it when it broke (you can track down my review here on Amazon), so I swore I'd stick with them, even when this costs more than competitors. I travel for business and nothing wears down your battery faster than travel or convention centers. I carry this in my bag until I need it. An hour later I've got a full charge, and some spare power in the battery case if I need it. This also allows you to use a cheaper mini USB cable. I carry a 8' mini USB cable and an iPad charger when I travel. It allows me to quickly charge the battery and the phone while sleeping. (And the longer cable lets me plug into an outlet behind a nightstand)

I can't remember the last time that I ran out of battery power since I bought this little battery life extender. And I used to run short well before the end of my day. The case is attractive without making my iPhone 5s look clunky or ugly, as the case has a sleek design and the color is a perfect match (gold). All that I have to remember is to plug it in at my beside every night before I go to sleep and it is fully charged and ready for duty the next morning! I have dropped my phone by accident several times without any visible damage to the case or the phone. I have no idea how many charges the Boostcase will take over time, but so far after several months it just keeps on going!

I looked at both the Mophie battery pack and the Boostcase - decided on the Boostcase because it comes with an iPhone 5s protective case designed to connect the phone to the battery (with the Mophie you would have to remove any iPhone case every time you wanted to mount the battery to the phone). I've used this Boostcase (2200mAh battery) for two months now for long hikes with heavy iPhone GPS use and screen-on time, and it still has battery capacity to spare at the end of the day. There is a light on the back of the battery that flashes red/yellow/green to indicate the % charged while charging. If you want you can attach the battery to the phone for less than an hour it will recharge the phone, then you can then remove the battery. The Boostcase on the phone is small/light enough to be carried in a pocket easily, and is coated with a rubbery material that improves grip. The protective case for the phone protrudes slightly above the phone's screen to protect the glass if you were to set the phone face down.
My only criticism of the Boostcase is that the iPhone case they supply has a smooth plastic finish - I would prefer a rougher plastic or a rubbery coating to make the phone with just the case (and no battery) more secure in my hand - hence 4 stars, but overall a very well designed product.
