Slapped this on the door frame of my front door, along with some hardcore 3 5/8" Uber Screws from Home Depot, as well as a Prime-Line Products doorknob/deadbolt reinforcement on the door side. Between the longer, stronger screws, this hardcore striker plate, the reinforcement plate around the knob/deadbolt, and the steel-paneled door itself, someone's gonna need a TANK to bust through my front door by force!

Measure your lock spacing from center and you'll be good. I like the product it's solid. I did find a similar product at lowes for a dollar cheaper FYI. Also you may need a wood chisel. Less is more when it comes to wood chiseling and it's not hard at all. A wood chisel will require a hammer to tap it.

This is a great product. Heavy, great screws.

It makes your door virtually impossible to kick/bash in. They will take out most of the frame to get in and it might take them some time. Plenty of time to grab your Glock and get ready for business. Or call the cops if you farm out your protection. Any security expert will tell you this is the most significant and low cost upgrade to the security of your home you can make. Add GOOD locks for these plates.. Not Home Depot junk locks. I'm talking Bi-Lock from Security Snobs or Medeco. That'll give you the ultimate in door security.

Remember though the MAJORITY of home invasions/break ins come through windows! Never open them past the catches - and always leave the catches down. Install cheap and easy 4mm+ window security film to make them very difficult to break.

I like this door strike. I bought it for our sunroon when I got a door installed. It has much longer screws than the door strike that was originally there (before a deadbolt was installed). You can just tell how much more solid the door frame is now, because this thing is really anchored.

The whole idea for this product is to prevent someone from easily kicking your door in: because it doesn't matter how good your door is, or your lock is, if you can just kick the handle of your door and rip out part of the door frame (with that kick), then you can get in. (You know, how the cops do it in detective shows? They just kick the door in?) With this product, at least, it is harder to do so, and a thief will be more likely to break a window to get in than to deal with this.

Recommended.

I found this to be a very strudy and well made item. The provided screws are long and quite strong. I broke two name brand driver bits screwing them in because it is hard to time when the screw bottoms out. The screws did not strip at all. Very nice quality.

I recently needed to change my locks so decided to make a few simple security upgrades as well. The best locks are only as secure as the door frame. Most door frames are made out of soft wood so that a simple kick or two will splinter and blow the tongue of the lock that extends only an inch or so into the frame easily through the small sliver of wood surrounding it. The simplest and cheapest way to bolster the integrity of the door is to have a thicker metal door strike and to secure it with long screws that extend beyond the soft door frame and into the adjoining wood studs. For a modest few dollars, this strike plate does exactly that. It's solid, attractive and cost effective. If you've never installed a strike plate before it's extremely simple, but be aware it might involve some tedious effort as well. If you're replacing, say, two stand alone plates, you'll need to create a channel this plate will fit into to be flush and functional. Make certain you have some nice sharp wood chisels and a hammer handy to accomplish that. It's a job not to be rushed or heavy handed with. I also chose to buy even longer screws than the ones supplied to make the door a bit more secure and to bite more deeply into the studs next to the door frame. There are security Strike Plates that extend the entire length of the door that also cost over 10 times as much, though offer even more security. But for the average home owner this product is a well worth the price and effort.

Good heavy-duty door strike, I recently replaced my garage door to the outside with with a steel door but still had wooden jambs. No chisling necessary, strike fit nicely between door and jamb. Upgraded to longer screws, now I need to upgrade the deadbolt. Also installed a pair of steel hooks that fit a 2 x 4 to add additional door reinforcing on the inside. Gonna need a sawzall and a bit of work to gain entrance now. Either that or bust the window but with the alarm system I should be covered should that event occur. Next step is to train yard raccoons to attack but I don't think that is going to happen, the only agenda on a racoons mind is eating the cat's food. Oh well.
