I just picked the orange version of the Neptor NP056K 5,600 mAh external battery pack. It showed 75% charge when I took it out of the box, so I topped it off to 100% using the included USB cable. After disconnecting from my computer, I connected the NP056K to my iPhone 5 which had 8% charge left. I used the 1.0A port on the NP056K. After exactly 2 hours, my iPhone 5 showed a battery level of 99%. The NP056K itself is now showing 75% (3 LED lights out of 4 on the NP056K battery meter). I cannot speak to whether or not the NP056K is faster or slower than the Jackery which I also considered buying. I bought the NP056K because it can charge 2 devices at the same time. The orange rubber covering feels great to the touch, and it's grippy enough to give you good purchase on the NP056K. There is a small LED "flashlight" that you turn on buy double-pressing the power button. It's a pathetic excuse for a flashlight, but it's better than nothing. It will help you find your keys in a pinch. This is the first external battery pack I've owned, so I can't compare it to anything else. I was hesitant to buy it because there are zero reviews on Amazon, and as I write this review, I might be the first. If it gives me a solid 2 charges on my iPhone5, I will be very pleased with the purchase. So far, so good.

This worked great for a few weeks. Now it will take a charge but won't give a charge. Now I just have a $50.00 orange thing I don't know what to do with. I can no longer return it and company was not helpful!

I took off a star because of the lanyard & the lack of directions. Getting the lanyard attached is impossible unless one has a teeny tiny crochet hook - even then it was frustrating & time consuming. Not sure why the Neptor doesn't come with the lanyard attached (or make the slot larger). The directions were incomplete. Does not show that matching colored cable is only for recharging the Neptor (one end of colored cable goes to Neptor and USB end goes to computer). And one needs to use one's own device cable to charge it with the Neptor. Also says Neptor starts to charge once a device is plugged into it. Not true - one needs to press the side button once to turn it on. However, the Neptor automatically starts getting recharged once attached to your computer.
Otherwise, I'm liking this external battery pack. I have only used it for a few days and so far, so good. I like the shape of it - easy to find in a purse. I get at least 2 full charges of my Droid Razor. I haven't yet tried to charge my iPad with it.

I have tried a number of external battery packs in the never ending quest to keep my portable electronics powered up. This one is better than most, but doesn't really live up to its advertised capabilities as a "tablet" charger.

=== The Good Stuff ===

* I like the case, mostly. It is smooth, has nice rounded edges so it doesn't snag on anything, and is a nice size for stashing in a shirt pocket. I didn't weigh the unit, but it is lighter than you would expect. It also has a built-in flashlight.

* Unlike other external power packs I own, this one will actually charge my 2nd generation iPad if you use the high current output. All the other ones I own do not charge the iPad at all. It takes a few hours for it to recharge completely. The unit stays cool to the tough when charging or discharging.

* The whole thing is pretty intuitive. The display consists of five very small blue LED's. You need to press the button to activate the LED's, and they go off after a few seconds. I hate electronics that has to flash lights for no apparent reason-tough enough to keep a hotel room dark.

=== The Not-So-Good Stuff ===

* The lightweight batteries come with a flip side, namely low capacity. A full charge on the Eagle-Tech translates into taking my iPad from 12% charge to 42% charge. It did charge my iPhone twice on a full charge. Charging times seemed roughly equivalent to a wall charger.

* The LED "flashlight" borders on useless. Also to turn it off and on requires a double tap on the switch, and this seemed a bit fussy.

* To charge this unit, you need a micro-USB cable. I am sure they did this to make it obvious which ports were input and output, but it does means you need one extra cable in your bag.Read more ›

I purchased this a while back, had the opportunity to use it during my vacation last week. It charges fast, but it doesnt have long enough life to charge more than one electronic device. very disappointed.

After using it for 6 weeks, it turns on, but shuts off once you attach it to a gadget for charging. Only the flashlight feature works.

Have you ever left the house or been away from a power source and looked at your phone and realized it's almost out of power?
That happens to me a lot and now I know I can count on this battery charger to keep my phone charged up for the day, even when I can't plug my phone into an electrical outlet.
This charger stays charged for a long time.
I check the Neptor often, and it doesn't seem to discharge energy until I plug my phone into it.
The battery recharges quickly when plugged in, and it's good to go.

The Neptor is compact and light, and takes up very little space in my purse or bag.

I've also bought it as gifts for others, and they love it too.
