I've only had these for two weekends, and have probably put more than 50 hours of use on them already. Arrived 2 days after ordering (thank you Prime). Things I wanted to know when I was shopping:

Fit: I normally wear a size 10.5 or 11, ordered these in 11.5 to allow for heavy socks, fit is a little tight, but not uncomfortable. I probably could have gone with the wide version, or up to a size 12. Because these are Salomon I'm not sure how much they will stretch, if at all. Support is great even with factory insoles.

Water Proof: No wetness inside walking through wet grass. In a hard rain they turned into buckets, most likely from my socks wicking the water into them (heavy hiking socks with liners). Seemed to retain my foot warmth very well even though soaked inside (maybe like a wet suit?).

Traction: I was climbing up a pretty steep rock face with hand and foot holds and wet leaves. Soles were ridged, meaning that if I could only get the edge of a tread onto a rock it was enough. Felt very surefooted both climbing and descending on the wet leaves.

Ruggedness: I'm a home handy-man who camps and works around the house. I tried to abuse them pretty well over the last two weekends with yard work and a 6 mile overnight hike. On the hike I only took them off when sleeping, they still look and feel like new. Quite pleased so far. If you don't see any up-dates to this review safe to say they're holding up well.

Great boot! Lightweight, great traction, very comfortable, great support. Water proofing is great so far. Haven't been in a downpour with them yet but snow, morning dew and light rain haven't been a problem. Pretty warm also considering not being insulated. Very breathable. Great 3 season boot. Order .5 size to 1 size larger than your normal size as these boots run narrow. Knowing that before hand will save some time on having to return them for a bigger size. Once you get the proper fit you will not be disappointed with these boots! Great boot and better value!

UPDATE: It's been about a year and I've worn it throughout the winter and at some point, less than a year in, it has sprung a couple of leaks. Now, for the price and for how much I've worn these, I still think they're great. But I owned a pair of solomons about 15 years ago for around the same price and they were waterproof for YEARS. in fact, my feet finally flattened out enough that I gave them away (still waterproof). So the quality has gone down some. Both boots let a very small amount of water in, as expected near the stitching. So, still great, but only 4 stars, not 5.

Love Salomon shoes period, I've owned one mid hiker, a trail runner (my favorite) and these. They fit perfectly and I use them now as my daily winter boot. I stay warm enough with just cotton socks and the boots in 0 degree weather. With a wool sock I'm comfortable well below that. The locking system is the only sort of unique feature and I love it, keep s the laces across the foot from loosening while you tie them. These are good to go out of the box. Overall extremely happy and will continue to be a Salomon customer.

Purchased one size larger and they accomodate my long toe. Holds foot in place on steep descents. No toe jamming. Very cushioning and comfortable. Good traction. Not gortex but very water resistant. Ended up buying three pairs of these before they discontinue.

These are listed as 'shoes', these pass easily as lightweight boots.
Wore them for the past week snowshoeing, wearing them with gaiters and my feet stayed warm and dry throughout.
In particular, I appreciated the depth of the ankle cinch point for the laces - it's right above the ankle bone for me and it adds to the comfort.
The tread is about 1/4", which slipped in mud that the Keen Targhee II was ok in.
The only thing I don;t like so far is silly - the tape loop at the back is folded flat, so it's hard to hook a finger in when slipping the boot on.

As I haven't had the chance to properly test the boots out for their intended purpose, I will just quickly review the fit of the boots and leave thar for and update at the end of the summer. First off I am a big guy(6'2" 320lbs) and wear a size 13 or 14 wide depending on the manufacturer. I was worried this boot wouldn't fit my feet, but have been pleasantly surprised. The toe box is wide enough that my pinky toes are not routed into my other toes and all other proportions are good as well. If you have wide feet, I'd recommend taking a chance on them.

Excellent hiking boot for the price, I'm very much a 13.5, so I knew the 14 would be a bit loose. A new set of insoles, which I would recommend anyhow, did the trick and made for a perfect fit. Hiked from the South Rim to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon after only three hikes in them, and walked away in great shape. Salomon makes a great product!

I have had some trouble ordering shoes online in the past, so I was a little nervous. I typically wear an 11.5 sneaker, most often Adidas Samba Millenniums, but a 10.5 dress shoe (Bass, Croft and Barrow), but a 10.5 Cole Haan is too small. When I went to try on a bunch of hiking boots in a store, I was unable to find any Salomons, but I did try on some Merrells and found that 11.5 worked just fine, so I went with that. These are even more comfortable than the Merrells I had tried on in store. I wore them all day over the weekends after first getting them to try to break them in and found they were quite comfortable right out of the box. Even doing active work in the backyard, running around the house and the neighborhood, crawling around a car for some minor repairs, I wore some wool hiking socks and did not note any hotspots or discomfort in any way. Pretty great for right out of the box. I have not had the opportunity to test out their waterproofing or how they hold up for an overnight hike, but first impressions are great so far. I will try to update again after I have put them through the paces, but I wanted to offer first impressions of fit in the meantime.
