The author is the person who has been responsible for the humor pages in Reader's Digest for years. If you love that type of clean family oriented humor, you will enjoy this book. I found many of the tales to be very funny almost of the rib-splitting variety. Others were a bit ho-hum. Some of the jokes would be appropriate for meetings or even sermons. It is a useful collection. I would like to re-read this book and reassess my views.

I thought for sure I'd be rolling on the floor with this book but I was sadly mistaken. I read Readers Digest and love their jokes but this whole book was on a different level, a lower level. Most of the jokes are long, if you can call them jokes. there are stories and anicdotes but it is all wordy. I would read some 2 page story and think was that really necessary in this book? Sorry but I've read funnier books than this.

If you are expecting quick jokes of just a few lines like in the Reader's Digest magazine, you won't find them here.
These are the author's stories. Most not funny. Boring.

This book, which we waited for, was simply not as funny as we expected. Too bad. Recycled jokes from the internet and things we had heard before. New sources needed.

Simmons's book has broad appeal but feels intimate all the same. His touching stories of the beautiful and witty Jennifer, the adorable Quinn, and the rousing cast of neighborhood characters are a delight! He's a brilliant but humble writer, sure to bring a smile even to the most jaded reader. Love this book!
