All in all a good product

These are pants that are essentially made of sweatshirt material. Gildan is a major maker of sweatshirts so it's no surprise that these are the way that they are. There's elastic only on the very top, thankfully, and it's a wide band with a thick drawstring that's more like the top of yoga pants than sweatpants. I'm really thin and the back looks a little baggy on me, which is fine considering I don't expect to be leaving the house in sweatpants...ever. What's REALLY nice about these is that I have really long legs (29" waist, 34" inseam) and I ordered a small and they're long enough for me! I only wanted pajama pants with pockets, and these fit the bill. They're not big pockets; they just barely fit my Nexus 5 phone, and they're kind of a weird shape and have elastic on the edges. But they hold objects and the inner pocket is made of the same material as the rest of the pants.
