I had searched for MONTHS for something like this. I only found one that retailed about $30 and wasn't willing to spend the $. I love it because I wash a ton of fruit for my kids (blueberries, grapes, strawberries, etc) and every time I drain the bowl, I lose many berries that escape from the outskirts of my hand. It was difficult to get the strainer part out of the lock position the first time around (check the 2 knobs on the side) and I just leave it unlocked now for easy up and down. It's a great gadget...I purchased 3 more as gifts.

UPDATE: when I purchased I got it for $10. I just came on to buy another and was surprised to see the price was in the mid-$20's...which I think is a lot for the plastic container. Still, I love mine for $10!

I was expecting the bowl to be larger than it is. The description gives dimensions but no volume measurements - it holds around 2 quarts. It is a little difficult to get the strainer to swing up from the locked storage position. All in all I'd say, "meh." Not really worth sending back, but not really helpful unless you are washing very small amounts of veggies or straining a small amount of pasta.

I misunderstood how this strainer/bowl worked. I had though the ingredients would sit in the strainer portion and the bowl would allow you to fill it up and rinse the items. Then you could tilt the whole thing and the water would drain and the bowl would catch any excess water without dripping all over the counter like a regular strainer. I guess what I was looking for would be more like a salad spinner.

Anyway, this rinse bowl works well itself. The strainer portion slides out of a locked position to allow you to strain and when you return it, you can lock it back into place so it doesn't just turn freely. That allows you to hold both handles without the strainer portion sliding up. The bowl also has a rubber base so it doesn't slide around on a wet surface. I do wish the bowl was a bit larger.

The bowl is nicely made and works great for draining items. We use it for washing fruit. The "basket" portion has to be pulled slightly forward to swing up as a strainer (that's the way it is made). It's a little hard to pop it forward but I imagine that will change as it is used and loosens. I gave one to both of my daughters for their kitchens after I tried mine.
