Brondell Hot/Cold Bidet Mixing Valve Upgrade kit, I got this kit on its own to use Aquaus Handheld Bidet, I got the Aquaus handheld cause I like the looks better then the one from brondell. Anyways back to the review for Brondell Hot/Cold Bidet Mixing Valve, this thing is great, the wife loves it, no more freezing cold water. I highly recommend this product, just had it for 2 weeks now so its a short time but so far so good, no leaks no nothing from the mixer, but no matter what handheld you get make sure you turn off the valve when you are done or your hand-held will leak. Fyi this valve does hot and cold by going left or right and the shut off/on is the lever going up or down.

It is pricey, but it might be the only solution you have if you intend to use both cold and hot water (let's face it, you do need hot water for a bidet). A lot of people tried to improvise some hot/cold solution out of homedepot parts, but it is not easy, if not impossible. The most difficult part is the valve that does both water mixing and shutoff. They just don't have that in a small footprint and the typical shower/faucet water mixer is basically not usable for this application. There are water mixers for motion-sensing faucet, but there is no way to add a shutoff feature. And not to mention that the cost quickly adds up to exceed the cost for this product.

It's unfortunate that Brondell decides to sell this as an upgrade, instead of a complete kit. This kit basically replaces the original valve (and makes that expansive valve useless). If you already have the original brondell, sure; but if you are just starting, you need to get this and then what? If you decide to go with this product, please do make sure you shop around. The price here is not the most honest one on the internet.

The product's write up in the Amazon website should have more data about required clearances. In order to use this product the handle needs to be facing the front of the toilet, and there needs to be enough clearance at the back of the product in order to allow a proper bend for the hose going to the hand spray. You need a minimum clearance of 4 inches from the wall to the toilet cold water inlet, otherwise the handle ends up facing to the right, and that is particularly bad if the toilet's cold water inlet on the left side of the toilet. You end up with the handle between the valve and the toilet, totally impossible to properly operate. It might turn out better if the cold water inlet is on the right of the toilet - at least you could get your hand in there to operate, but the proper way is for the handle to be facing toward the front.

Then, when I tested the bidet, with the wrong-facing valve, I found out you have to be really careful how you aim, or you end up spraying water behind your back and onto the walls and floor....

Then, to add insult to injury, when disconnecting the hot water supply from the valve up to the sink in order to install the T-Valve, I turned the nut on the compression fitting the wrong way, effectively strangling the copper pipe going up to the hot water faucet in the sink. So I ended up with a kind-of-working hand held bidet, but no hot water in the sink.

So now I have no bidet, and no hot water at the sink, and getting a plumber in for a small job is nearly impossible!

I should have quit while I was ahead..!!!

Great product. Does just what it says it would do. I could improve it by using a dial for the temperature and a lever for the volume. This way I never will have to set the temperature but I am used to it and it adds a lot to my bathroom. I also have the Brondell had wand and it is great too.

I bought this to mix hot water before it goes into a Luxe Bidet Neo 120. That model bidet only has one line in for cold water, so I simply put the single line out of this mixing valve into the bidet cold water in. Now I turn the bidet on and then adjust the valve to get water. I have to turn my sink on for awhile before using it to get the hot water from the piping across the house, so it's not perfect. An instant hot water heater would probably work well.

I like the product and what it does. However, I received 1/2 broken valve that caused my toilet tank to fill up with hot water which cracked the tank and flooded by bathroom, hall and kitchen. So you need to be careful when installing this device and test to make sure everything functions normally,

This product requires a lot more "plumbing" than the sprayer bidet that it goes with. The bidet installment itself was a breeze but to install this you have to do quite a bit of new line work. The hot and cold mixing requires hot and cold lines and it has to be run from the nearest cabinet and could look ugly.

I returned this and took the hit for the return shipping and decided to stick with just the sprayer. Im not an expert handyman so for someone who is an expert DIYer this might not be a problem.

I really wanted this to work out. I've had the hose installed for a few years now and the thought of hot water was a dream come true (only it didn't). I don't know if mine is defective but it leaked all over the place. It worked IN THEORY because the hot water flowed from the sink nicely, etc... but it is almost as if I needed a larger washer or something. The very top of the unit where you insert the washer and screw into the toilet seemed to have a lot of "play" in it. It rocks back and forth and does not allow for a proper tight fit. That's where all the water comes spewing out when I turn the pressure back on. I screwed it in nice and tight but even OFF of the toilet and in my hand that particular piece is wobbly. Now I have a hole drilled into my bathroom sink vanity for no reason. Also, it seems a bit of a waste to pretty much discard the piece that came with the original hose. It cost a pretty penny. Why is this sold separately like this??
