Astro is a fantastic company to buy from. They boast excellent surround sound tech and headphones as well as a focus on great customer service. I know this personally, as I have owned their A40 Audio System (including the Mixamp) and the A30 headset for over a couple years now, and I have always enjoyed them. You may wonder why I would buy a pair of their A30s since I already owned the decidedly more powerful A40 first. Well, there's an answer to that, which I'll get to later, but for now, I'll just objectively review the A30 as best I can first. Whenever deciding whether or not I should make tech purchases as expensive as these, I always appreciated the reviews that went into great detail the most, so I will try to be as informative as I can here for you. I've used the A30 headset for a long while as my primary headphones, so I can tell you from experience about all parts of this package very accurately.

You'll know you've received an Astro product the minute you see the box their stuff is packed in. It's all very slick and reminiscent of an Apple product: modern, artistic, striking, almost zenlike. The A30 headphones are gorgeous, and quite different in design from the A40. It actually reminds me of something you'd see out of 1960's space age comics, such as a space suit component or computer/TV from that era. It's all very, very cool in a sci-fi retro sort of way. The magnetic speaker tags that you attach to the back of each headphone also add to this aesthetic pretty well. I bought the Master Control Panel pair off of Astro's site and they really add to that retro 1960s style.Read more ›

The audio quality of this headset is incredible.

Giving a 3 star because the build quality is not. I bought this for my girlfriend in June.
In late September we had to send the headset in for repairs because the boom mic was not working, and did not work with a replacement mic Astro sent us to test.

It is now November, and the other night while adjusting the headset to her head, the screw housings that hold the earpiece broke, leaving the earpiece dangling by two wires, which promptly broke while taking pictures of the damage. Now the earpiece is completely separated and I'm in contact with Astro's customer service.
So far Astro has been amazing as far a customer service goes, it's definitely not an unpleasant experience.

I've had the A40s since 2010, and while one mic port has started to go out on them, everything else is still wonderful and the build feels really really sturdy so I've been surprised to have this many issues with the A30.

This is the best non-amplified headset I've ever listened to. The sound is extremely clear, and very accurate. The entire frequency band sounds very even. Adjust your EQ to taste.

All of the included adapters allow you to use this headset/mic with everything from your smart phone to PC. These cables are a HUGE value, this is one headset for any application you could need one for.

Highly recommended!

My husband bought this headset for me since I needed a new pair. I had a cheap logitech set that broke apart, but was still using because I didn't have anything better. My main issue with most headsets is that they are too heavy and big, I'm a petite girl...or have a small head, whichever, so most headsets don't work well for me. These are lightweight and good quality. I game and they've been a dream! I have also recently been traveling so I just leave the mic at home, plug the aux into my phone so I can listen to audiobooks or music while at the airport. I can quickly toss them into my carry on or in my purse when I'm going through security and since the headset detaches from the aux, I don't have to worry about damaging my headset.

The sound quality is good, no noise canceling, but I like that.
Mic works great
The plastic is lightweight and seems to be durable, I can wear these things for hours
It's also comfortable, not just the weight, but the foam ear pieces aren't too thin that they are going to rip, or too thick that they encompass my head
Stylish (I got custom plates for mine)

Overall - I love em.

I use these on my Mac, my PC, and my Xbox 360. I didn't bother buying an Astro MixAmp, SteelSeries sells essentially the same thing for $8 so you can use the PC headset on your Xbox.

The Sound quality is good, but either I have bad hearing or they aren't very loud.

They fit perfect, I usually get pretty bad headaches from other headsets because I have a huge head and most headsets don't accomodate such an abnormality. These however, fit great and I can wear them for hours without any discomfort.

You can also get custom plates for the sides of the headset on the Astro website, which is pretty rad.

No complaints whatsoever. Great for gaming or listening to music. Even works as a headset for iPhones.

One consideration, the microphone is noise cancelling, so it has to be pretty close to your mouth the pick up noise, and you might have to turn up its volume for folks to hear you.
