I bought this set for my mom almost a year ago and she LOVES them. She no longer uses a fork to press down her empanadas, these do the work so much faster. The medium sized press (blue) is perfect size for Goya Discs or flour dough for empanadas, the larger Goya discs work well with the red press. We use these all the time for empanadas now. Tip: Press down using your fingers, that's all you need.

Not really what I was expecting. With a few design changes (actually 2) I think I would have easily given this product 4 stars and possibly 5. First off, the price is great (I paid ~$8) and the plastic is pretty solid (could be a little thicker) and I could see these lasting for a few years as long as you do not press the sides together insanely hard. I'd place the ruggedness at roughly the same as many cookie cutters you would find out there (the plastic ones obviously).

Here's the changes that I would make to these presses:
1) extend the bottom cutting circle by about 1/4"...when you cut the dough and then place it in the press the center sinks down to form a recess so you can easily place your filling. That's great, however when the dough sinks down it pulls away from the outer edge of the pleat (just a little under 1/4") all the way around. Meaning less (not enough) pleating or possibly no pleating in some places if the dough isn't placed in the exact center.
2) extend the pleats by about 1/4"...they really aren't wide enough and the dough many times pulls apart when you open the press to take it out. This causes you to have to go around and repress the dough seam with your fingers...which messes up your perfect pleats...which is the whole reason for buying a press. This solution would also fix problem number 1.
3) the pleats should be more pronounced(deeper)... this would create a more appealing design and would also help to improve the seal.

A few hints:
1) hit your press every 6 or 7 pressings with a cooking spray, this will prevent the dough from sticking to the press when you open it up to take it out.Read more ›

I knew exactly what I was getting before I hit the "Order Button." I absolutely love these dough/turnover/dumpling presses. At first glance, the smallest of the three may appear too large for the purpose, but it is not. Use it a bit and you will soon agree. These presses are intended to shape and crimp dough - pie dough, puff paste dough, Danish dough. Shaping and sealing dough, NOT forging steel. Be gentle, use a little egg wash or water on the interior crimped edge. If the exterior dough tends to stick, a tiny spritz of pan release spray won't hurt. I began using my set within an hour of their arrival. Inverting the press is a good way to measure/cut the dough circle. For boiled dumplings, the dough should be left intact; for most baked goods, and egg wash and 1-2-3 small steam slits is a good idea. I find them easy to clean and top-rack dishwasher safe, but I NEVER use the hot dry cycle; your mileage may vary. Would I buy again or gift this set of three? YES - and the price point is about right for the set of three.
Slightly Off-Topic: I'm DISGUSTED with Amazon's use of USPS's 'Mail Innovations' program and/or UPS's 'SurePost' service. Both are horrible and generally delay delivery by at least one full day. When using these programs, Amazon is Wholly Unable to 'deliver' on their Prime program's promise of "Two Day Delivery." They simply CANNOT do it! And yes, I know, this should be addressed to Amazon's Customer Service Department. Have YOU ever tried to send an email to Amazon's Customer (No-service) about a shipping or delivery issue? As far as I know, it CANNOT be done. Your mileage may vary, but I get zero traction.Read more ›

Package came on time and as i opened the box the smallest white size was bent and will not click properly. I would've returned it but didn't want to go through the return hassle.
Today i made about 18 Meatpies/ Empanadas and pies didn't seal well as a result a lot of the fillings ran out.
I thank God i was just experimenting with the dough press set otherwise i would have made a serious complain because it is false product advertisement .
I will go back to my regular basic cutter to cut and fork to seal the edges.
Also the dough press set was very uncomfortable while using it as a cutter and crimping the dough. My hand was very sore afterwards.

Perfect size for my "empanaditas". Love the good quality of the material, easy to clean. Tip, use with a little piece of plastic wrap before you place the dough in order to avoid sticky dough to get stuck on the surface.

We've used the large press on biscuit dough and filled it with meat and cheese. It worked great. We plan to try the smaller ones with pie dough and fill with fruit.

I like the way it cuts the circle for you and then once it's filled it folds and presses the dough together.
