I buy from Amazon almost weekly and almost never write reviews. I decided to review this item because there were only 2 reviews and, for that reason, I almost bought a much more costly product. I have two small dogs who use stairs to get into my bed. Their whole lives they used stairs that were a sheepskin type material stretch over a plastic frame. The plastic frame cracked so I had to replace the product. I knew I did not want another set that used any kind of material. I also have cats and the pet hair would quickly build up on the old stairs. These stairs are perfect. They come ready-to-use right out of the box. I was pleasantly surprised by the sturdiness of them. I also love that they actually have sides. The stairs have a soft,rubbery material on them to cushion feet and sound. If your dogs are very tiny, elderly or infirm, be aware that they may have to do small jump from the top step if you are using these for a bed as opposed to a couch. Not an issue for healthy animals. If your pet is used to using stairs, they should have no issues using or adapting to these, especially if you are putting them where they are used to using them. The price was perfect, free shipping through Prime, and received in 2 days.

These steps are ok for a small dog. My 16 lb. dachshund uses them fine. The base is a little flimsy, but serves the purpose of my dog getting up on the sofa. These steps definitely wouldn't work for a dog any larger than mine.

I read the reviews on this product before I purchased and made sure there was a carpet under the staircase. I have a young rescue mini dachshund who has no problem leaping up onto the couch or bounding off a rather high bed. I was warned about the long back of the dachshund and that the jumping would lead to miserable back problems for this breed (and other with long spines). I am thrilled with my purchase because my Portia actually uses the steps (after some coaching) and they are lightweight and easily moved. The perfect choice for our household.

For the past several years I have used the cheapie pet steps that are plastic with the faux sheepskin cover. I guess I've gone through two or three of them. I finally decided to replace that item because my one pup was always pushing his toys underneath it and when I would lift it up to get the toy, the plastic parts would all come apart, so it was a pain. After looking over all the different types of doggie stairs, I finally decided on this one, considering reviews and cost. My pups are only 10 lbs. and 6 lbs., so I can't answer for larger dogs. At first mine wouldn't use it, but after working with them for about 30 mins. they seemed to adapt. All of the stairs available probably have slightly different parameters, so feel different to the animal when something new is introduced. It is certainly sturdier than the previous stairs. I would like to see a bigger area covered with the slip-proof rubber (if after a few days, the pups seem to have any slipping issues, I may glue on something to add a little more traction area). The stair is not as wide as previous model and is just a teeny bit higher. No assembly (unlike the cheap model) so no pieces falling apart. I think for smallish dogs this item should be fine (guess a large dog wouldn't need anything to get up on the couch anyhow!). For the price, I am satisfied. If you want to spend twice as much, you can get something nicer looking that may suit you better.

The stairs on hard wood and tile floors slip when the dogs start climbing them. This scare them because they think the stairs are not safe. the company should put rubber or some other type of anti. slip material to stop this. If the stairs had this they would be a 5 star rating. These stairs are very small and light weight. Although description says can hold up to 70lbs, my Chihuahua likes it but larger wiener dog won't use at all but uses larger one upstairs. My opinion only good for very small dogs.

Portable, durable...I guess the only thing that I should have done was made a better height measurements to match up to my bed. I think the dog in the picture is getting onto a couch...which would be quite accurate, because it's about the height of the front of a couch when out. A little short for a bed, but still a lot of help.
