Unlike some shows that lose steam after a couple of seasons, Lost Girl apparently improves with age. Having firmly established its central mythology in seasons 1 & 2, season 3 introduces a Valkyrie (Tamsin) and delves deeper into the backstory, including a visit to Bo's past. If you are a fan of Vex, you'll certainly enjoy the first couple episodes of the season. Bo and Kenzi continue to face down new enemies with their usual panache, although it seems they are separated more often in season 3 when confronting what needs to be dealt with.

The introduction of expansive lore and imaginative minor characters with each episode never ceases to amaze; the all-fired creativity of the show's world is largely unparalleled in television today, and remains among Lost Girl's greatest assets. I rarely rate a TV show with 5 stars, but in the case of Lost Girl it's hard to find a downside. Season 3 being reduced to 13 episodes is a major letdown after being treated to 22 episodes in season 2, but I suspect that it is wise to focus on quality over quantity rather than risk overextending resources. The possibilities here are almost limitless, which keeps me optimistic that Lost Girl will continue for another three seasons: Let's hope that Anna Silk and Ksenia Solo don't lose interest in being a part of this anytime soon.

I've waited many years for a show to pick up the torch that was dropped when Buffy the Vampire Slayer was retired in 2003; Lost Girl is about as good as we are going to get in creating a similar chemistry involving monsters, would-be monsters, a Scooby gang, female empowerment, and the vast gray area that confuses concepts of pure good or evil. In season 3, Bo's knowledge and skills continue to strengthen -- as does Lost Girl overall.

Ok, this season is a mixed bag in that the first five episodes sucked. The reasons for that were iit felt like a lot of time and progression had passed since season 2 ended so it was harder to figure out where characters stood, also characters started keeping secrets from each other again which I hated and I actually ended up changing my thoughts on the Bo/Dyson/Lauren triangle.

But after those episodes the season got a lot better, the secrets were finally revealed, character archs developed, new characters were introduced and they were surprisingly nice to watch, the humor returned and the end of the season was great.

Ultimatly, it turned out good and if I could this would get 4.5 stars.

Update 11/15- Having rewatched this season recently, I actually didn't find the first five episodes confusing and instead found the last two confusing. But really that was the only issue as with hindsight, more things were clear this time around.

Ever since I first started watching this show, I've kind of wondered whether or not I was it's intended audience. By the time I'd gotten most of the way through season 2 I stopped caring. This is an excellent urban fantasy romp with some touches of comedy rolled in for fun. I think the show isn't meant to be taken seriously and is definitely soapy. But I find that to be part of it's charm. What does the future bring for Bo and her friends? Well most of you know who are watching season 4 right now. But I'll just have to wait.

Before this show, I hadn't really gotten into Canadian shows. I loved lost girl. I love the mythology, the story line, the strong female protagonist and basically everything else. It is beautifully shot, the actors and actresses are amazing (and sexy and funny), and the storyline is riveting!

I think this season really hit the shows stride. More of the politics and history was brought out, and Bo continues to be challenged. Bones- Linda Hamilton guest stars!

I like the show. Season 3 started off with a bang but I thought it ended with a whimper. The storylines were a little out there for my taste but I could follow okay. I am delighted it is still going strong and I will be purchasing season 4.

This is currently the best show on TV - season 4 will be released in the US and Europe in January 2014 - started November 10th in Canada - at 10pm EST on ShowCase- not a good sign ;o( as would appear to ndicate a drop in ratings. This show has received surprisingly little publicity - strange that none of the major networks have picked it up. Having watched the first 3 episodes of season 4 - Anna Silk was not really in the first 2 as she has recently given birth. Ksenia Solo (Kenzi) is as brilliant as ever - in my opinion the best actress of her generation - she has certainly matured ;o) I do not understand why there was such a long delay in releasing season 3 on DVD - released in the US before Canada. I sincerely hope that the producers and distributors 'get their act together' and release season 4 on DVD on time. It is also only 13 episodes and thus far has been more sureal than series 1 and 2 and many fans of those may be put off but Bo and Kenzi are reunited in episode 4 of season 4 so things should more or less get back to normal.

I have some griefs with season 3. I have not yet seen the fourth season, so some of these issues could be resolved in that one. What is up with the writers on this show? Bo finally gets with Lauren, but their relationship starts to unravel with some unnecessarily cruel comments starting soon after they are officially a couple. And Bo has to grab a hidden chocolate bar after they have sex! The implication that the writers want you to take from this is that since Lauren is human, she is not enough for Bo: Bo is left "hungry." But it actually doubles as a metaphor that lesbian sex is "not the real thing." When Bo had sex with Dyson in previous seasons, his "junk" was the mighty healer -- healing Bo from every physical injury. But sex with Lauren leaves Bo bone weary and unfufilled. For a show with such progressive intentions, it is putting out a conventional, tired old message from the earliest Hollywood films that lesbianism is simply a counterfeit to the "real thing." And when Bo passes the greatest test -- the dawning -- Lauren is merely standing in the background, no great meeting of lovers when Bo gets out. Then Lauren breaks up with Bo, without the two of them seemingly even having a chance to talk since Bo was in Brazenwood. The way that this relationship is presented is disappointing and leaves me with the feeling that the show's creators only wanted bisexuality included as a bit of titilation. The writers/producers did not even give Bo-Lauren a chance.
