I got this KVM to allow me to share a Samsung 305T 2560 x 1600 display between my Thinkpad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 (433810U) with a Accell UltraAV B087B-002B DisplayPort/DVI-D Dual-Link Adapter (Black) and my desktop box with an NVidia GTX-265. High-res monitors like this require either DisplayPort, or a special kind of video called 'Dual-Link DVI'. There are only a few choices for KVM's for dual-link DVI, and this is one of them.

Pro:
+ Comes with all the cables you need if you already had one PC hooked up to your monitor, keyboard, mouse, and sound goear.
+ Works flawlessly at the highest resolution (2560 x 1600)
+ Includes a wired remote button to switch between computers, very handy (I use it exclusively)
+ Has two USB ports you can switch as well as sound & microphone.

Con:
- Default keyboard hotkey to switch computers doesn't work in my Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Desktop 7000. I have to use the hard switch.
- Like other reviewers, I noticed video didn't work well at lower (e.g. 1280 x 800) resolutions, with lots of flickering and jumping. Not sure why you'd pay for a dual-link DVI KVM to run at low res though, as a normal DVI kvm would work just fine.

I was disappointed to be unable to switch between machines using my wireless keyboard.

It seems to be working quite well. It was the least expensive option I could find for switching between my Mac Pro and an Intel based PC I had just finished assembling. The unknown before I connected everything up was whether my 30" Cinema Display was going to have a clear image after installing this switch. It does, and it looks just as good as it did when only the Mac Pro was connected. So I am satisfied.

The only reason I don't "love" it is because of the price. But this device still had the lowest of all the ones I looked at with comparable features.

I'm using this to switch between a 2008 Mac Pro and a Thinkpad T520 with a Minidock Series 3, sharing a Dell 3007WFP monitor running 2560x1600 and the Mac Pro's keyboard and mouse. For the thinkpad I first had to convert the display port output to dual-link dvi using this:

Accell UltraAV B087B-002B DisplayPort/DVI-D Dual-Link Adapter

Then ran the dual-link output of that to the IOGEAR switch. The switch has dedicated inputs for both keyboard and mouse so that it can detect hotkey patterns for switching (such as double-click of center button of mouse). However, I'm trying to keep thinks neater by just having my mouse connect directly to the keyboard (like Mac's do), and only have the keyboard go to the switch. I lose the mouse hotkey with that, but I prefer using the keyboard anyway.

I find it takes about 2 sec to switch the display between systems. However, I suspect this is more a function of the display itself having to resync on the different signal rather than the switch itself. The keyboard/mouse seem to switch instantly.

The default keyboard hotkey sequence is [scroll lock] [scroll lock] [Enter], however since the mac keyboard doesn't have a [scroll lock] key, the swtich has an alternative sequence which you can switch to just by using it for the first time, which is [Ctrl] [Ctrl] [Enter].

There are a lot of commands that the unit can take starting with the hotkey sequence. As a result, once in a while when I fumble my fingers and hit [ctrl] [ctrl] something (I don't know what) it gets into a confused state and flashes the Caps Lock light and the keyboard becomes unresponsive.

This KVM is designed to draw its power from the USB connections to the computer. Unfortunately, whenever my computer would hibernate (Windows 7), after waking it up (via the case power button) the USB peripherals (mouse/keyboard) would no longer work through the KVM. Unplugging and reconnecting the computer-to-KVM USB connections would make the peripherals work again, but then what is the point of KVM if you have to do that all the time? I reported the problem to IOGear tech support on the first unit I received, they said it shouldn't have this problem, had me try a few things, and ultimately advised me to send it back for replacement. The second unit I received had exactly the same problem, so unfortunately I'm forced to conclude that this is how it is designed, so I had to return it for refund. Another different (more expensive) model that I ended up with draws its power from a normal power outlet and does not have this problem (unsurprisingly).

Other thoughts: this KVM *will* pass through an NVidia 3D vision signal to a compatible monitor, even though it is impossible to confirm this anywhere in the documentation or other reviews I found online. It is quite small, which is nice, though it can't really be oriented in any obvious way like typical KVMs, since instead of having all the connections in the back like usual, the KVM cables come off one side and the ports for connecting to the peripherals are on the opposite side. Some might find that this makes placement of the KVM awkward.
