This worked ok electrically, and it worked ok externally with an extension cable. However, most SATA disks have around 2.5 mm between pins & edge. The adapter I received presented around 4 mm. It was too big for a SATA dock and for a laptop SATA bay. For my pressing need I rasped down the plastic housing on the pin side to a taper that let it squeeze snugly into the dock.

MAKE SURE IF YOU WANT A "Micro SATA" OR "Slimline" ADAPTER!!
I helped my 14yr old build his first computer for his mother last week. It's basically an HTPC case with a Mini-ITX motherboard and the case requires a "slimline" optical drive. We had just installed a blu-ray drive in her laptop, so we put that one in the Mini-ITX case.
I wasn't aware (or forgot) the power connection on the back of the slimline drive is not your standard SATA size, so I purchased this adapter.
No-Go. If you look at the attached pic of both a Micro-SATA fitting (which this adapter is), and a Slimline, you see the difference in orientation of the "hockey stick" legs.
The reason I gave this adapter a 5 star rating is because it looks well made, and if it would have worked for my purposes, I would have given it a 5.
So it's on it's way back to Amazon and a slimline adapter has been ordered.
Hope this helps someone :)

As I said in the title, this little thing works great, just as it should.

I have an internal Blu-Ray drive from a used laptop and this adapter is just what I needed to install the drive into my PC.

SATA SATA SATA....

Make sure your drive is Micro Sata, not mSata, or mS200, or Slimline Sata. They are all annoyingly slightly different.
