I have basic sewing skills and have taken sewing classes yet I was unable to use the tape as directed. No matter how many times I read the directions or how many different ways I tried, I wasn’t able to figure it out. The directions call for cutting a piece of tape the length of the finished curtain plus 7.5 inches and sew it to a piece of fabric 2 ½ times the size of finished panel. Huh? I didn’t know how to machine stitch the upper and lower edges of the tape to the fabric without folding the fabric and sewing it flat. I wasn’t able to find any videos online. I used the product by cutting the tape the same length of the fabric width and sewing it flat. The results were disappointing. The product shows through the fabric even though I lined the drapes. Because I used the tape incorrectly, the folds do not fall the length of the drape. But the absolutely worst thing is the product hurts to use. The loops are attached to the tape with plastic thread. The ends of the threads are sharp and you can’t help but stab yourself. It feels like a pin prick. Ouch! It’s been couple of days since I finished, or should say gave up making, the drapes and my fingers are still sore. If I had to do it all over, I’d:
Buy ready-made curtains.
Cut off the sharp edges the first time I got jabbed.
Plan to use a heavier weight fabric.
Buy a product that offers online support.
Buy a product I know how to use. (In my defense the directions do not appear on Amazon.)

If you buy this product:
The estimation of tape needed should include the 7.5 inches added to the width of the finished curtain.
The tabs are 1 ¾” wide.
The loops are 6 inches apart.

The reviewer who left the negative post was probably a life saver for me. I had made several curtain panels that involved making my own individual tabs, which is a very time consuming process when you have a whole house full of windows to deal with. I chose to order the product anyway and after seeing how sturdy it was, I decided to create a way to use it without reading those dreaded directions. Here's how: First of all, you will need to find an online tutorial for hidden tab curtains. This is the one I found helpful:
http://www.viewalongtheway.com/2012/06/tutorial-how-to-sew-lined-back-tab-curtains-drapes-curtain-panels-whatever/
Using those instructions, I was at the stage where my panels were already hemmed along the bottom and sides. I then turned down a simple hem across the top, pinned it, and pressed it in well. My fabric was heavy, so I miter-folded the corners and did a little hidden trimming so they would lie flat. With the panel's lining side up and starting with the left edge, I pinned the tape across the top of the first panel, covering the raw edges of that hem and making sure the first loop started 1/2 inch from the left edge and that the tape was 1/4 inch beneath the now folded top of the panel. I pinned it along until I got to the right edge of the panel. Knowing that the right edge of the last tab needed to be 1/2 inch from the edge of the panel, I cut through the tape, and did some splicing and overlapping to put that tab just where it needed to be. This tape is heavy and it doesn't unravel, so there's no need to finish edges that you cut. I then cut away the excess header tape 1/4 inch from the end of each panel and stitched it in place along all 4 edges. The tape is the color of the lining and doesn't show from the back side. The fabric I used was practically an upholstery weight, yet I would use it with any weight fabric. I think it's a great product.

I added it to store bought pocket rod curtains to give them that pleated Tab look. Worked great.
