Currently contains methylisothiazolinone, a contact allergen. Methylisothiazolinone causes contact dermatitis and was the 2013 American Contact Dermatitis Society's Contact Allergen of the Year. It is foaming agent used to replace parabens. This detergent contributed to my contact dermatitis for almost two years. The other reviews that complain of eczema and other skin issues when using the detergent is likely related to this chemical. Contacted the company and they have promised to reformulate it, but until then avoid this. I hope they also send out a warning to recent customers of this product.

Well, we have a new born that apparently has allergies. She is too young to test yet but we thought it might be the laundry soap we were using, so the Honest Company's soap seemed a good place to start. Well, no no no! Her situation went from bad to worse within hours of wearing anything that had been washed in this detergent. Now, prior to this she already had a bad case of eczema that bordered on looking like she had been burned in a fire. Her face lit up like a light bulb almost seeming be on fire itself glowing red. We immediately went out and bought a free and clear laundry detergent and saw immediate relief. Not sure if this is really a bad review but something for new mothers to consider when exposing their newborns to anything but a free and clear product in a young ones early years.

Contains no SLS??

Read in the ingredients: Sodium Coco Sulfate (Coconut-Based Cleanser)

Sodium coco sulfate (SCS) is a blend of:

sodium caprylic sulfate
sodium capric sulfate
sodium oleic sulfate
sodium stearyl sulfate
sodium myreth sulfate
sodium dodecanesulfate
sodium monododecyl sulfate
and others
Instead of individually listing all of the fatty acids used to make SCS, companies combine them all and call the surfactant sodium coco sulfate. SCS may have the same carcinogenic potential as SLS/SLES as it is often contaminated with 1-4 Dioxane which contaminates the cleansing products it's used in. Many scientists regard SLS/SLES and SCS as a serious environmental hazard due to its potential 1,4 Dioxane content. SCS has the same risks of skin irritation, eye irritation and toxic nitrosamine formation as SLS/SLES does.

I bought this the other day instead of my usual seventh generation detergent to try something new. I so regret buying this honest brand. My son starting itching all over his back and neck the next day. So we gave him a nice bath and put a anti itch cream I make with young living essential oils. His itching and raised bumps went away but the next day I started to itch my back and had the same raised bumps. Then I realized that it's the DETERGENT! Maybe it's the horsetail extract or preservative? Uhh. I had to go through all the clothes I recently washed and put it all back in the washer again with seventh generation. Maybe I will keep the honest soap to wash the car or something lol

So disappointed. I wanted to love this product. I recently purchased a lot of the Honest products and have been trying them out. I made the mistake of washing a load of towels first. They smelled clean and I was pleased. I then went on to wash all of my baby's clothing for the next size up, all of his current size clothing, burp cloths, receiving blankets, wash cloths, etc. The colors are no longer vibrant. Everything looks old rather than brand new or lightly worn. I will be going back to my old detergent.

I have never written an Amazon review before, but I hate this product so much I just had to. This Honest Co. detergent made my clothes smell really, really bad. I was baffled as to why my clothes starting smelling like a combination of B.O., mildew, and poop. When the clothes came out of the washer/dryer they smelled fine, but after a couple of days in the closet or dresser, they smelled like they were rotting! I thought it must be the washer or the water supply to the washer. I became desperate to figure it out, but never dreamed it could be the detergent! When I finally ran out of the detergent, I got a new detergent and my clothes starting smelling clean and fresh again. Now my clothes are back to normal and the rotting smell is gone. Seriously, it was the detergent. So gross.

Methylisothiazolinone is terrible and is the cause of the allergic reactions

If I could give this product a -5 stars I would! Not only did this product not remove any of the stains from my daughter's clothing, but it created new, brown stains all over all her clothes!! I used a similar product with my first daughter four years ago and all her clothes looked like new. I am reusing those clothes now for my second daughter and they all look worn out after one wash full of stains, faded and full of brown spots in addition to any stains that were not removed and are set in. My guess is there is something reacting to either breast milk (where there were spit ups) or urine that is turning all of those non visible spots into ugly brown spots.

In addition now my daughter is breaking out now and the only other product I use is the The Honest Company Body Wash so it is probably reaction to one of these products!!

I was SO disappointed, that I called the company. The woman I spoke to said: "Like, I can't do anything for you except if you open an account and can give you some store credit". I stated that I would like a refund and not a credit since I will not use any of these products again. She said: "I am sorry that is all I can do". I have NEVER dealt with a company that does not take responsibility for their product or a dissatisfied customer and give them a refund. I was shocked but I guess the bottom line for this company is getting their money and not customer satisfaction. I am so disappointed. I really wanted to like this company and the products and now I am left with a bunch of ruined clothes and a broken out baby. I have heard other bad things from my friend about how this company handles customer care and now I believe them.
