I first started using this by mistake. I had run out of my usual AvoDerm Natural Lamb Meal and Brown Rice Formula Adult Dog Food, 13-Ounce Cans, Case of 12 and asked my neighbor to pick some up at PetSmart. She picked up a small bag, but got Eukanuba Excel Lamb Large Breed Adult Dog Food, 25 lbs. by mistake. I used it anyway, and my dog went crazy for it. He started sniffing the bag, and immediately ate his whole bowl.

So I started ordering this brand because he seems to like the taste so much. Also, my other dog, an English Bulldog, prefers this to her usual Taste of the Wild Dry Dog Food, Pacific Stream Canine Formula with Smoked Salmon, 30-Pound Bag.

It's a little pricier, but does have free shipping. I'm going to stick with this as long as the dogs prefer it. I want them to enjoy their meals as much as I do.

Recommended for a healthy dog food that dogs love.

Just FYI, but Eukanuba changed the formula and bite size a while back, so I was concerned when I suddenly got a bag of big bites instead of the new smaller ones I had finally become accustomed to. I ran the lot number and sure enough I had a three year old bag. This has always been my preferred dog food, for 20 years in fact. If I get too many more old bags the review stars will have to go down even more. This is not a slight against the product, but Amazon fulfillment needs to check the product dates I think.

This is certainly one of the quality dog foods. I had used it way back in the 70's but it was not as refined as it is today. First of all, my dog does love it and there is no particular reason why any dog would not like it, other than the fact that dogs get bored with their food from time to time. The ingredients are very good and you don't have to worry about strange stuff with the term "by product" in their EXCEL line. As far as the inclusion of grains goes, there is a popular trend to use dog foods that are grain free. Actually, grain is within the natural diet of dogs. How is that possible, you ask? In the wild, dogs kill grazing animals, such as deer. They eat the entrails first since the underbelly is the easiest to access. The entrails contain partially digested grains that the grazing animal has eaten. In fact, some dog owners feed their dogs raw entrails. I am not really a fan of that. I find that both grain free and feed with grain as supplied by some brands are excellent. I suggest you compare the feeds offered by Performatrin Ultra which come from Canada and are sourced solely from Canada and the USA. It contains plenty of Canadian salmon and the local source of salmon keeps the price low. It is currently my favorite brand and I use both the grain free version and the version with grain. As far as supermarket dog feed goes, Eukanuba is one of the best choices.

Their website does not state where the sources of food are from, only that they are tested.
