A great value. 10 for the price you sometimes pay for just 2. The quality is great. There is no compromise to the thickness, consistency, durability. They are tough.

For keeping in my survival pack I've taped three together with 3" aluminum tape (not duct tape) into a tube tent. I then cut a forth in half and taped the pieces to each end to make loose end flaps. (Just construct it slowly, carefully, and in small increments. Once placed you will NOT be able to move the tape.) With it I have 50' of thin nylon cord to use in holding it up and lashing the corners and end flaps as needed or appropriate. It compresses down into a 1 pint (not quart) baggie. It's a great emergency shelter (for two or three) and/or sleeping bag (for one or two). And I still have 6 blanks left!

I have to admit, I didn't buy these for me. My husband and I have been taking care of our neighbor's abandoned cat for close to a year now. We used to keep him in our apartment (despite a no-pets clause in our lease) but when he got fleas, we decided it was time to stop bringing him in. It's getting cold now, so I built him a shelter out of a plastic storage bin, insulating foam cut to fit around each side of the bin (including top and bottom), some straw and one of our blankets that he loves. I was worried that plain insulating foam might not keep out the cold Philadelphia winter, so I ordered these blankets and wrapped one around each piece of the foam so that the entire bin was insulated. A few weeks ago we had a cold snap and the cat was hanging out in the shelter. While he was in there, I stuck my arm in to get his food bowl to refill it and even though it was barely 30 degrees outside, I swear it was at least 70 degrees in the shelter - the Mylar blankets retained so much of the little guy's body heat that it was downright comfortable, even with the opening we cut into the box to let him come and go. I'm not worried about him freezing to death anymore. If they work for that, I'm sure they're great in an emergency.

My apartment in Las Vegas faces West. When the sun sets, the heat is very intense. I used these mylar blankets in my window as poormans insulation. Now my air conditioner does not run constantly and I am able to leave it off during the day when I am not home. Without the blanket and my A/C off, my apartment would reach 90F by 8pm. With the blanket, it stays about 78F.

You get a bunch of these blankets, and they are very large. I would recommend these as both poorman window insulation and as an emergency blanket.

The problem people generally run into when trying to prepare for any sort of disaster or catastrophy, is 1: expense and 2: Weight to have to carry. That being said, Problem Solved. Mylar Emergency Blankets solved both issues ON TOP OF being better than ANYTHING else at keeping you warm. Great Product, HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

These mylar blankets are so cheaply made that when you try to open them up, all they do is tear. After the first one tore in so many places, I tried to open the second one as carefully as possible. It took forever and did not make any difference. They stick a lot in the creases, almost like there is glue on them. It is impossible to open one and not tear it. All 10 of them did the same thing. I definitely would not recommend buying these unless you do not care about all the holes you get when you open them.

What can you say, it's a great deal for a pack of 10 to throw in your B.O.B. I opened one up and it looked like all the other emergency blankets that you buy at the local Camping Outlet. Wrapped it around myself and immediately felt the body warmth being reflected back. If you are patient enough, you CAN fold it back to fit the plastic bag. I've done it several times without any problem!

Great price, decent quality!

Though light, compact, and cheap, these "blankets" will not wrap around an average sized adult lying down, let alone an adult with wearing thick winter clothes. This leaves you with a choice of getting wet and cold from the ground or getting wet and cold from the wind, not a good trade-off.
Find a reflective blanket that is at least 84"x60", if not wider.

Great value at $7. Have used them so far to cover some discreet windows for winter (stupid mobile homes). I used a plastic sheeting first (made by Duck Brand) and then used this. Sheeting keeps out drafts and this reflects a lot of heat in. I read a lot of customers using this a sole way of insulating. That works, but make sure you have a complete seal all the way around, then you'll be warm and cozy
