Nicely made, generally comfortable, but limited potential use.

Too be perfectly honest I have had these books only two days and these observations are preliminary at best. Firstly these clearly run small as do seemingly all European boots. I ordered one size larger than my normal shoe size and they fit in length and are snug in width. I have a narrow foot and can wear a men's "b" width. These, even in a larger than normal size are snug. I would say they are a good fit for me but for a typical "d" width foot these would be tight. As they are a rather soft leather they will stretch, but be forewarned. The sole is a full 3/4 " narrower than a same size LOWA Renegade boot.

The sole is more flexible than the Renegade, which may be good for some but not so much for me. I have only walked around 6 miles in these and there is no heel rub or toe problems so I do not anticipate any problems with blisters. The leather lining is similar to the Renegade but doesn't seem as padded to me. This has resulted in a slight rub on one foot where the lacing hardware is attached above the ankle. This may take care of itself as the boot is broken in but it is disturbing. The Renegades were perfectly comfortable out of the box. These are less so to a measurable degree.

These boots are not for backpacking, only trekking. I like the leather used in the body of the boot. It is rather soft and should mold to the foot. Durability is another question which will take time to answer. As mentioned the sole is a little too flexible to my liking. Ankle support is adequate for hiking and the snugness of the boot should provide adequate stability, but unlike the Renegade, I am unable to lace the top snug enough without that hardware rub to make it an optimal fit.

These are partially cloth so I doubt they will prove water resistant.Read more ›

Very Different Fit Compared To Renegade Model

I really looked forward to receiving these boots and expected great things, but it didn't work out for me for a couple of reasons. I ordered a full size up because of the reviews that suggested it (10.5 rather than my typical 9.5), but they were way too big. I've had a couple pairs of the Renegade boots and I thought the sizing of the Hudson was very similar. I could exchange them for a smaller size, but there is a much bigger issue that rules out these boots for me. The LAST that the Hudson is built around is completely different from the Renegade. I have a slight tendency to overpronate with my right foot, but the shape of these caused me to dramatically overpronate with both feet. No orthotic insert could correct such a pronounced alignment issue. I've never tried on a boot that had this issue to such a degree. For me, the Renegade boots I've had fit so well that I didn't even need an orthotic insert to have proper alignment. My guess would be that the dramatic difference in fit and shape is related to the different production locations. The Renegade boots (that I own) are manufactured in Slovakia while the Hudson is German made. It's just a theory, but whatever the reason, the difference makes the Hudson impossible for me to wear. Thankfully, Amazon makes it so easy to return them. I just wanted to share my experience since it was so unexpected based on my previous experience with Lowa boots. They seem very well made, but they just aren't right for me.

so I love these boots

Hi all, so I love these boots, I did a net search for the worlds best trekking boots and I found these to be the coolest.
I originally ordered a 9.5US (my normal size) and they were way too snug so I returned them for a 10.5, perfecto!
They are built like a German tank as well, just amazing and they are actually made in Germany too, ha!
Overall and Uber 11/10 from this cowboy.
