Flavor Name: Grain FreeSize: 11-Pound Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
It was easy to say Yes to Amazon Vine's offer of this grain-free cat food. Both our cats have been on Science Diet since we were acquired by them. (Surely you don't pretend that cat ownership goes in the other direction?) They started with the kitten formula and graduated to the "original" formula.

Every so often I've tried them on the anti-hairball formulation; the cats are Selkirk Rex, which means long-haired and curly, which you can read as, "My, what impressive hairball presents you leave for me to step in!" But they always seemed "eh" on it ("What ELSE ya got, Mom?") and it didn't seem to make any difference in the hairballs.

Still, a free bag of cat food isn't a bad thing. If they hated it, I could always find a friend with less picky eaters. Really, I shouldn't have worried.

I set out two dishes: one with their regular "original" formula, and another with the new grain-free. Both of them responded as though I'd been starving them. The two cats usually have their own rituals for who-eats-when, but in this case they kept shoving one another out of the way to get to the dish.

It's a week later, and they're still chowing down on this stuff. No problems with it coming out the other end, either. They seem to have settled down to taking it for granted, and now will eat from either the "original" dish or the grain-free mostly equally. I take that as a good thing; cats can be finicky.

The Science Diet verbiage promised: "Prebiotic fibers from beet pulp contribute to good digestive health * Nourishes a radiant and lustrous coat * Supports healthy kidneys, immune system and good vision." Yeah, I guess so. But mostly I have two happy cats. I'll be buying this stuff for them again.

We adopted our cat in October and for months after we adopted her she had terrible diarrhea, we're talking completely liquid. We were feeding her the same food (Kirkland brand) she'd been getting at the rescue center and she had no other symptoms (lethargy, etc.) so at first we thought it was just the stress of being in a new environment. After a couple of weeks with no improvement, we took her to the vet and found out she had a parasite. But after two week-long rounds of medication, her diarrhea was as bad as ever. She also had some scabs on her neck and near her ears that made us suspect a food allergy.

The vet gave us some of the Science Diet dry food for gastrointestinal health and some Fortiflora. I had also read that canned pumpkin helped diarrhea in cats. So for about a month we were giving her the Science Diet i/d, a packet of Fortiflora and a tablespoon of pumpkin. That seemed to get things under control but if we missed a day of the pumpkin or Fortiflora she would have diarrhea the next day. Then she seemed to lose interest in eating the pumpkin altogether. We tried switching her to a grain-free cat food from a natural pet care store in our city, but she's very picky and wouldn't touch it. We tried pricey grain free wet foods, but she again turned up her nose (we were warned when we adopted her that she would not eat wet food but thought it was worth a shot).

We went to Petsmart to find a grain free food but didn't feel great about most of the brands (Blue Buffalo, Purina, etc.). Then we saw this Science Diet grain free food. I had read mixed things about Science Diet and had been hoping to find a different brand, but when I looked at the ingredient list on this food, I was sold.

Quality Product! I bought this food because it's Grain free and I'm weaning both our cats off of another quality Science Diet, dry food product that uses Grain. One of the Cats has a allergy problem. The vet told us about and sold us this food to see if it helps 8 months ago and, I buy it as needed from Amazon. With Cat allergies, going grain free is a good place to start. I also switched their wet food to grain free. Our cats eat this food which is another good reason to feed them this food. I have also found another quality Grain Free dry food that I mix with this food that has a "real" chicken flavor with no colors or artificial additives and they seem to enjoy the mixture. My cats are 3 years old. The price of this food is not cheap but equal to the quality.

I adopted a kitten a that for some reason had chronic diarrhea that were sometimes bloody and painful and very stinky! He was also sneezing up a storm! But he was otherwise a picture perfect cat. Still energetic and playful. We thought it was the kitty litter at first and changed it to every known brand on the planet. That didn't work so we took him to the vet, who suggest the kitten most likely has a sensitive tummy and had us try a bunch of things including different foods. He first suggested I try an easy to digest brand that didn't really help. After a bit of googling I found a couple of folks suggesting Hill's Science Diet grain free! I gave it a shot and all of my kittens issues vanished in a couple of days. Hes been eating this brand for almost 2 years now, hes very healthy, normal poop, and no more sneezing! Turns out he had a grain allergy. So this is the perfect brand for me! He loves it and gobbles it up like a pig. I cannot complain about it one bit!
