I originally purchased this detergent because that "one" favourite workout shirt had this funky (totally revolting) smell that just would not wash out. I have a HP washer at home and did the clean the washer drill with this detergent and then washed "the" shirt. Hung it up to dry like always. Whoa! Much less stinky! Washed it again and hung it up to dry. The smell was gone!
Then I began travelling to Japan where the summers are a muggy, sweaty, stinky mess. I purchased sweat wicking, mostly polyester work clothes because I have to be presentable while traning in the hot sticky mess. I have been using this detergent only and there have been no smelly clothing issues. Until today. One of my friends flew home to the States and she left me some non-perfumed "clear" detergent. I washed a load of clothes because it was liquid detergent and wanted to use it up before I flew home knowing this powdered detergent would store better until I came back. That load is being re-washed right now in Sports Suds because it smelled bad right out the washer.
Yes, it's a little spendy. Yes, you only use half of a little scoop of this detergent. Yes, you'll have to tell your friend who comes over to do laundry that he only has to use half damn scoop. (Grrrr) I will only use this detergent from now on. Oh, I don't have to use fabric softer with this either. Love it!

I do hot power yoga every day & I have a very sensitive sense of smell. Tough combo. I use this for my towels & wet clothes every 2-3 days and I also use it intermittently/weekly for bedding & other clothes. It is good but not great when used as recommended. It might work better if you always wash your clothes immediately after sweating in them but that would be inefficient. It's so much better than my regular earth friendly laundry soap (seventh generation) & I honestly haven't found anything better. Clothes smell, feel & look cleaner. Not sure how it would compare to a more chemical-commercial laundry soap like Tide. I love that it's fragrance free. I have sensitive skin & this is great for sensitive skin. But - and here's the bad news - you'll still have to wash your super smelly clothes 2-3 times when you first use this or when you let things sit for 2-3 days. And, they say you can use cold water but you'll get better results using warm water and you'll need to use 2x or 3x the recommended amount of Sport Suds. That makes it 2-3x more expensive per use than you expect & it's silly/misleading that they say you can get so many washings with one tub. It's pretty pricey especially when you consider that you get fewer washings. But it does work well as long as you double up on the amount, wash often & use warm water!

I can rationalize spending $20 for HE detergent, but $60!? Yet, when bombarded by nasty towels and clothes that never seem to smell good no matter how much detergent AND fabric softener used, well, it is time for the big guns. It is hilarious when I saw the container-140 loads in here? Then I dug for the dispenser cap. Oh my! But after loading 5 cubic feet of clothes and placing the itty bitty amount of detergent in the washer (maybe 3/4 of a tablespoon-yup, that small), I cannot buy anything else now. I do not know if it was the new house, the water, or the bathroom set-up, it doesn't matter now. The smells are gone! Best of all, to placate my hubby (since the stink was less of a concern than our septic), this is septic and gray water safe. Good for us, whomever visits, and the environment - thank you, Sports Suds! We are a stink-free home and loving it. :)

I have been using this for several months for my gym and cycling clothing. It looks like this container will last me about one year at 3 loads per week. It does do a good job on odor removal, it even removes most (not all) deodorant odor from my Under Armour t-shirts. I wash all my gear in cold water and hang dry, and my stuff is still in great shape after long hard use. Colors are bright, fabric is odor-free, everything's still holding it's shape. I deducted one star because I do find white residue on dark clothing. Not a big deal, it normally just brushes off. This residue is different than the residue mentioned in the detergent's profile -- that refers to removing old soap and dirt clogged in the fabric's fibers. I'm speaking strictly of cosmetic residue, similar to baby powder.

I ordered a small package of this first, because I was put off by the price but curious enough to give it a try. After doing so, I then bought this large tub. Between the sports and activities of my husband, my son and myself, we have so many dri-fit, UPF, wicking material clothes that they make up the majority of our laundry. In addition, living in Texas any outdoor activities require sunscreen which invariably gets on your active clothing too. This detergent does a terrific job of not only cleaning the clothes, but also leaving no scent behind--pleasant or unpleasant. As a side note, after using this for a while, I noticed that my front-loading washer no longer has a musty smell to it. As far as the price is concerned, yes it is expensive, but do a thorough comparison as price/loads/quantity used. I use only 1 small scoop for a large load of laundry, and it works well. If something is extremely soiled, I only add 1 small scoop of Borax, but this is necessary few and far between. I feel this is also much better for the environment as it is biodegradable, scent-free and works well in cold water.
