Good Antivirus checker. I use this software at work and was given a chance to try it. It is cheap and you get a good all around antivirus. It runs quietly in the back and you don't really notice it running. You get three users for the price and it really is worth it. Twenty bucks for a solid antivirus is a great deal. Do not get the advanced version as most people will never need to use it. Just get the antivirus and you will be a lot happier as I know this version really is solid.

I'll admit, I'm cheap when it comes to software, I like opensource or free trusted software because there are so many good programs that exist. I had the chance to try out Kaspersky AV and I tell you, it's ok but it doesn't appear to give me anything that other free programs deliver. Kaspersky installs fine on on your computer assuming you meet all the requirements. Inmy case It found I had security essentials and asked to remove it, that for the most part worked. It then installed itself and did the updates. What I found was that it is a virus scanner/protector and while that's cool and all other applications like AVG and Microsoft security essentials do similar functions and are free of charge.

That being said, there is something that you can say about paid software, and that is you typically will get a little higher quality, more regular updates and there is a vested interest in keeping you as a customer so often the software is a bit better. In my opinion as an IT guy Kaspersky IS good, it does a good job for what it is and for that I will rate it at 4 stars. HOWEVER, there are alternates available that are perfectly adequate for typical users that will cost nothing and also receive frequent updates.

People complain that this will slow your computer down, it wasn't that bad. In fact it was no worse than some of the other software I have tried by companies like McAfee and Symantec. Truth is all AV software has overhead as it is a resource running in the background. Any AV software that doesn't impact performance a little bit probably isn't running right. The trick is to find that right balance, and Kaspersky really isn't bad, they seemed to have gotten it down good, the program is easy to use. I just don't care for the price tag. If this was $12-$15 I could justify it, but at the current price of $28.99 (12/31/13) it's hard to give it 5 stars with so many options available.

Lots of anti-virus seemingly do the same things, or so we assume, but then again so do good butlers. Of course, not many people have butlers anymore, but efficient and stress-free anti-virus might be their modern equivalent. Having used this software with Windows 7 and Firefox I can't say that I have had any problems. (I rarely use Internet Explorer so I can't say how this product works with that browser (or Google Chrome, which I have not tried, either.) Once in a while in Firefox (especially when going to job websites) a Kaspersky flash popup tells me that a phishing URL has been blocked, but that's about the only time I "hear" from them. Kaspersky never emails you, never tries to up sell you on anything and the only time you directly hear from them is when their yearly 'contract' comes up for renewal. What's better than that? (Especially for non-technophobes who really can't be bothered with concerning themselves with what their 'butler' is up to all the time).

Aside caution for international travelers/workers: This software for 3 computers only installs when the computer you are using is in the USA. If, say, you have to wipe your drive while on a visit to Mexico or wherever or find yourself in Europe for the summer and want to load this software on a second computer while abroad it won't be possible. The internet has no boundaries they say, but Kaspersky does!

I will admit that a couple of years ago, I thought I'd save a little money and I went with another anti-virus company (Trend Micro). I had so many problems with their program and it didn't really protect me either. Then I had to deal with their technicians who were pretty much scam artists trying to sell "system clean-up" services which I shouldn't have needed if their product worked in the first place. I went back to Kaspersky realizing that a few extra dollars went a long way in the end. This is my 3rd year with Kaspersky and I have already gotten warning prompts when entering dangerous cyber territory. Your superior product is greatly appreciated!

Before this product can be used it must be activated. The stage for activation comes after un-installing existing anti-virus and downloading almost 200mb of updates. I had travelled outside US and bought this for a PC i will use outside the US. After un-installing my Norton internet security and downloading updates, i was informed that my activation code was for another region. When i checked for possible solutions i was told to go back to the region where i purchased the anti-virus and install there.

It's not stated anywhere on the package that the anti-virus was meant for a particular region. I have used several anti-virus in different parts of the world and i never had this problem. The least Kaspersky should have done is to indicate clearly on the packaging that the product can only be activated in the region where it was bought. By not doing this, i feel misled into obtaining a product thinking it had worldwide apllication only to find out i have been restricted in it's use. I am re-installing my Norton Internet security pronto!
