Do not buy any McAfee Products

So I am having issues with continuous pop-up ads on my internet through both Explorer and Firefox. After trying to fix it for over a day I contacted McAfee. They said that while I did in fact have their internet protection, they are not responsible for protecting my internet from adware and malware? REALLY! Portions of my conversation tonight: They said, "I understand that you have paid for McAfee Anti Virus software. But please be aware that McAfee software takes care of your computer only for Virus infections. It does not fix any other issues with your computer. But the subscription that I'm referring to now (the 3rd party product they wanted to sell to me for $180.00), fixes any issues with your computer like Operating system issue, booting issue, virus and malware issues, connectivity issues and so on......(later in our long conversation) I understand that ths issue is related with McAfee Product, and therefore, I'll provide you with a number to reach our McAfee Product support team as they are the right persons to fix this issue for you (for just $179.95 per year! Our conversation ended, at least for me with my final response).....I think I will need to discuss this with mcafee..... It is really upsetting that the company advertises to protect my computer and then charges me for a third party to fix the issues that your company was supposed to be preventing in the first place. It sounds like a scam and I will be making my concerns publicly known. I have copied this conversation and will be publishing it on Face Book and sending the transcripts to local newspapers so that the public can be made aware of McAfee's attempts to scam the public and to ensure they are aware of what they are NOT purchasing when they purchase Mcafee products.

WORKS GREAT FOR ME

It works great for me. It was simple to install also. When its installing, make sure you answer yes to a question something about alerts for risky websites. For example if you google a food recipe , the page that appears with all the different websites will show a green check mark just after the name of the websites that are safe. I remember when I read all the reviews, 1 year ago someone said they checked a website they knew had viruses and weren't alerted. All I can say is somehow they didn't answer yes to that question. I use this cautiously anyway.

FRAUD

Did not work. The Techs were foreign & could not make it work, Said I would have to pay additional fee to repair. Next day purchased Malwarebytes/ anti-malware at Tiger Electronics for $ 30.00. My computer now is like new. They do not send cd to install in computer but a card with numbers.to call & speak to foreingers who speak little English.

In recent two months, I bought the product from a third-party seller and he sent me something different than his description. Thus we returned the product to the seller. However we used this product a year ago, it's OK to avoid virus but no other features to secure internet activities or do file cleaning periodically.

McAfee = spamware

I now consider McAfee no different than spam. It is constantly trying to sneak onto your PC when updating unrelated programs. Sometime when I'm not vigilant against it, it does manage to sneak onto my PC like an unwanted pest and I have to uninstall it. So know that the once proud name of McAfee now means spam and unwanted pest and be in the habit of guarding against it.

Won't install

It won't even install. I keep getting a message that an issue is being fixed and it will finish installing when that is done. Really? This should be the simplest thing to download. Sorry, but I have to try to contact some technical support now. Will update.

This is a real licensed software copy - works great!!!

I purchased this product and am only posting a review because another reviewer so scared me I almost didn't purchase.
Don't be misled - this is a great product offer, and it works fine.

I researched thoroughly, I contacted McAfee, and I contacted the sellers I was looking at (one of whom was Amazon directly) and all confirm these are legitimate, licensed, and supported copies. You receive a bi-fold cardboard card in the mail, with a scratch-off keycode and a web address (mcafee.com/intelchannel), try it and see. When you buy the product you simply log-in and download your new version. It is McAfee!

McAfee said it is the same product and they will support and service it. They will not however match the price as 'that is a special promotional offer only through amazon or the seller'. So be it, sorry McAfee. I purchased this product from the seller Platinum Micro, Inc for what was $9.99 and everything installed fine and works great. I logged in to my existing McAfee account and it just went from there. These are licensed and legitimate software copies and work fine. Moreover the seller I used always answered the phone and was willing to help. As was McAfee. Find a seller you like and get this product if you have or like McAfee. Save yourself $39.99. This is a great product and purchase experience. I am very pleased and will renew this way again.

And as for issues of Canada vs US or wherever... It asks you when you install what your region is. Simply uninstall your existing version (Control panel/remove programs) and reinstall the new one. You can download the software to your system as many times as you need while your McAfee account subscription is active.
