There must be some problems when it was produced, because several people experienced same phenomenon. Even trigger was off, motor kept rotating without stopping. When I disassembled, I could clearly see what was problem. (-) electrode was fixed well by heat, but (+) was not. So (+) could move inside, it was connected with battery without triggering.

Simple to operate. Perfect weight for a 4-year-old. But didn't last even one hour.

My husband bought two from a local retail store. The weather was hot a few days ago so he let my 4-year-old daughter play with one. She loved it. The trigger was neither too light nor too heavy. She was able to hold it down for continuous streams or release quickly for bursts. The screw-on cap was easy to remove and my daughter could fill the gun herself. When filled with water, the gun was too heavy for her to hold in one hand but just right when she used both. My daughter had no problem chasing after my husband with the gun.

Unfortunately, the trigger of the first gun was jammed within the first hour of play. The motor just kept on running until my husband removed the batteries. Incredibly, the second gun had the same problem.

I would have given them 5 stars if the guns didn't fail so quickly.

Finally, if you are buying for a 4 or 5-year old, you might want to try the Super Soaker Freezefire. My husband got it when he returned the broken Hydrostorm. Freezefire is the old-fashion pump-action super soaker. It took her a few tries but my daughter got the hang of it. Freezefire holds a bit more water but weighs about the same since it doesn't have batteries or a motor.

Works great and has a decent range. I use it to squirt the cat when she claws the carpet to get attention.

The picture is a little deceptive, this thing is huge. It is not a pistol. It just barely fits in a child's backpack.

Picture a bunch of late 20's, early 30's adults. Well we got these to have fun in the park. A throwback to the old days on a hot summer day. What a shame. No where near the same oompf as the old super soakers. They need to bring back the pump up pressure models (Super Soaker 50, 100, 200, CPS 2500, ect), because these are leaky, weak, and totally ineffective. Looks like we will have to scavenge yard sales looking for some of the oldies.
