I regularly give my dogs Greenies to help keep their teeth and breath clean, not sure how much they really do help, but my dogs do seem to really enjoy them although they consume them very fast. My young dog definitely has lovely clean teeth and hardly any doggie breath but she is an avid chewer and gets bully sticks and bones to chew on so hard to say how much is those and not the Greenies. My sheltie is a lot older and like many of that breed, always seems to have tartar issues, but it does seem to be *somewhat* better, that is, doesn't get as bad as fast. His breath doesn't seem particularly improved though. So, will the Minties do any better? These definitely impressed me as a Greenie replacement for the much shorter ingredient list, with WAY fewer chemicals, and more natural ingredients. They have a very strong minty smell which I thought might put my dogs off but they still wolfed them down. The bag only contained 6 bones which really isn't enough for me to seriously test them or compare them to the Greenies. I could however do some research and I found that these were originally marketed as "half the price" of other dental bones....yet they seem to be the same price as Greenies here on Amazon. Turns out, these are commonly sold at a large national chain for half the price they are sold here at Amazon! That a pretty hefty markup for Amazon customers and for that reason alone, I'm dinging them 2 stars.

So by all means, if you use Greenies, consider giving these a try. But buy them at your local store, and don't pay the high prices they are listed for here.

My littliest doggie had the worst breath you could ever imagine. She has a wee little mouth so most dog dental/teeth cleaning treats are difficult for her to get her mouth around. These extra small ones are still a bit big, but are easy enough to snap in two and have made a world of difference in her trash breath. She really looks forward to her daily treat and they help her breath tremendously!

The 5 star rating was chosen because my Chihuahua likes these much better. I received a free 10 treat bag to try of the small size for adult dogs 10 - 19 lbs. It is for complete oral health by maintaining healthy teeth and gums; helps freshen breath with natural fresheners; helps remove plaque and tartar; and digests easily. This replaced the Greenies which I thought my dog liked, but found out different. Have already bought another replacement bag! This free sample helped me find a better oral product for my dog. Sadie has me trained well.

first thing i noticed is the over whelming smell to these bones. WOW is it is strong Almost made me gag. Really smells like strong dog food super strong. But my pomerian loves them! and it helps with his tarter and breath problems. I will just hold my nose when I give them to him. They are about 4 inches long and maybe a inch wide not very wide. My pom is 13 pounds and can chew it just fine.

My dogs didn't like these as well as some I have purchased. and they are really small so I worry about choking but they do come in larger sizes so the tiny is really tiny, for smaller dogs than I have. I have 9lb, 12lb and 14lb dogs.

In many ways this dog treat is the same as the Greenies brand. They're even almost the same color. The ingredients are different though. The first ingredient for Greenies is wheat flour and the VetIQ is rice flour.

The biggest difference is the mint aroma and, I assume, flavor (I didn't taste it). VetIQ does list peppermint as an ingredient.
Both the Greenies and VetIQ treats claim they are for dental health and I'm just going to take them at their word. However, Milk Bones makes pretty much the same claims and are much less expensive than either Greenies or VetIQ treats.

I was skeptical of the VetIQ claim about fresh breath. But, I think it may be working. One of my two dogs has terrible "dog breath" even though we brush her teeth daily. The VetIQ treats really did help mask the odor and, after a few days, her breath wasn't as bad.
Overall, I good alternative to Greenies with the added benefit of helping if your dog has a bad breath issue.

My puppy loves these and they're soft enough to cut in half...I give her 1/2 just before I head out the door! Now, when I am getting ready she sits by the pantry door and waits patiently until I give her one. I have also noticed her teeth still appear white with no build up so the Mintie must be doing a good job :-)

I received a free 6oz bag of Minties that had ten chews inside. I gave one to my 17lb dog every day for ten days. I noticed over time that his teeth noticeably whitened and his breath smelled better. He seemed to enjoy the flavor of the Minties and was very excited when he got to have one. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that has problems with their dog's breath or teeth. The only thing I would have liked better is if the treats lasted longer I was expecting more of a chewie type item and it definitely does not last.
