I use this on my burns, but i also use it on nerve pain, and it works on the shingles my husband had. It's one of the highest you can get OTC at 4%, the highest is 5% currently.

Lidocaine, like other "caines", is a membrane stabilizer. Specifically, it blocks the voltage-gated sodium channels at the nodes of Ranvier that allow the influx of sodium when the nerve reaches the threshold voltage (negative 40 millivolts, if memory serves), thus preventing an action potential. No action potential means no nerve impulse.

Active Ingredient: Lidocaine HCL 4%
Inactive Ingredients: 1,3-Propanediol, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe) Leaf Juice, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Hydroxyethel Cellulose, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin, Caprylyl Glycol, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), water.

This stuff works like a miracle,It should be near every stove in the world,to remedy burns from steam ,hot oil or flames. It is composed of aloe, and most importantly LIDOCAINE,max. amount allowed by the FDA and over the counter without a prescription,it cuts off pain signals from the burned area being sent to your brain, almost immediately .You can break down the good sized plastic bottle with spout, into smaller air tight bottles, for camping backpacks, boats, bicycling, the beach, for any activity ,even sunburns,I KID YOU NOT,EVEN Razor burn, enjoy!!!

Being a retired pharmacist, I found this product to be equal in both strength and effectiveness as the still Rx only lidocaine ointment. Great for topical muscular pains, strains, etc. Use with good brand arnica gel and you might even prevent some minor bruising. Definitely will buy again.

I bought this product for our home first aid kit. After I burned myself pretty good on my thumb, pointer, middle finger and the top of the palm of my hand cooking a soup for our community Christmas Tree lighting, I ran to the bathroom to see what we had in our cabinet for first aid. We had nothing for burns, It made me come to Amazon yet again to start building a better first aid for my family. The first thing on the list was of course some sort of Burn Gel. I ordered this product after reading some of the other reviews and seeing that it was Maximum strength. It had to be good... right? All I knew is I never want to have another burn like that again and not have something for it. This product arrived promptly which I was thrilled with.

I put this in my first aid container not thinking I would need it for hopefully a little while. (this is one of those things you buy and hope you never have to use) However, a few days later my husband burned himself the oven taking something out for me. I pulled out the gel and applied just a little bit to the affected area. he said it helped to relieve some of the pain but didn't take it all away. I kept applying this every few hours and I was glad when his burn looked 10x better than mine did with in the first day. It was interesting to see the 2 burns and one that had been treated with this and one that hadn't I will definitely buy this gel again. I would say it helped tremendously with the blistering and scarring. The skin around his burn looks a lot better than the skin around mine.

I wish I would have thought to take a picture and I would have posted it on here for you guys to see. I always forget that Amazon has a photo button to add photos to reviews.
Don't get caught with out this gel!

I had really bad rug burn on my elbow. It was red for a week or so. It hurt so bad! I ended up digging this out of my first aid kit and it was great. It kept the area moisturized and reduced the pain associated with the burn. I honestly hadn't thought that the pain reduction would be anything of note but this surprised me. I think it's definitely a good thing to have around for those injuries that are bad enough to be incredibly distracting but not serious enough to go to the doctor.

I grabbed the handle of a frying pan after it came out of the oven and needless to say I burned myself really badly across the fingers of my left hand, especially the pad of my thumb. The pain was terrible and the burns started blistering and the only thing that helped the pain was keeping my hands submerged in cool water. We went to the store and bought this stuff and I was not expecting much, and after I put it on I felt only a small reduction in pain. After about 45 minutes the pain was almost completely gone. A few hours later and the blisters were gone. I put more on before bed and wrapped gauze around it and woke up this morning to no pain whatsoever. This stuff is AMAZING

We keep a couple of bottles of this around at all times. I've given bottles away to my older kids and other family members. This is the highest level of lidocaine you will get over the counter and it is so reasonably priced compared to other products. It is easy to apply and blends into skin quickly. All of the previous would not matter if the product didn't work but it does work and it works very well on: burns, minor skin irritations, rashes, bug bites, razor burns, even mildly sore muscles.

Good stuff. Had bad radiation therapy burn on upper neck/clavicle and armpit. Time is what's needed and anything heps but the addition of lidocaine to aloe was a plus.It did sting when first put on- as did anything even water- but soon there was a lovely painkilling effect.
