We bought the large size for a 44-lb dog that measures 23 inches from the base of the neck to the base of the tail and is 27 inches around the large part of the rib cage and it perfectly fits. The coat has an excellent and strong water repellent polyester shell that covers the dog from the base of the neck to the base of the tail. The plush lining is very soft and warm and keeps our dog comfortable in frigid weather.

The Velcro strap around the body is the right size for our dog but if he was slightly larger it would be too small. The coat uses exact standard measurements and if your dog is a slightly odd size or shape like ours you may be better off buying the coat one size larger (normally we would have bought a medium size).

So three great things about this coat: it's absolutely waterproof, it's absolutely warm, and it's absolutely a bargain.

Great price on a quality coat for snowy winter walks. Purchased for my 4-legged niece who is a Bull Terrier: 50 lbs, 30" around the chest, 19" from neck to tail - the LARGE fits well and the dog loved it so much she took a nap in it. :-) Can't say enough good stuff about Amazon Prime - ordered it yesterday morning and it arrived this afternoon....wow!

I don't remember what I was thinking, but I bought a large when my dog's measurements (26" long, 26" around the deepest part of her chest) clearly indicated she needed at least an x-large. Maybe it was because she weighs around 53 lbs. and some reviewers said a large fit their 50-ish pound dog well. She is long and slim but deep chested, built like a 3/4 model Rhodesian Ridgeback. The coat doesn't reach her tail, and it just barely fastens around her chest. In fact, I had to pull it back from her neck a little to get it to fasten around both her neck and her chest. Even so, it provided excellent protection against this winter's atrocious weather. It kept her dry through hour-long walks in blizzards and driving rains, and kept her warm when it was 5 degrees with 25 mph winds (she is thin-coated and does not appreciate arctic vortices). Although it's snug, it stays on quite well, even when she gives herself a snow bath and snowmobiles across the grass on her nose. She looks adorable but dignified in it, and the reflective strip is a very nice safety touch. I'm very happy with this purchase, but don't order without measuring (and following your measurements!).

Really nice dog coat and easy to put on with a great price. The sizing is smaller since first ordered a large and had to return it and replace it for an extra-large for my 65 lb. Golden Doodle. Extra large is the largest size made so not sure what someone would order for a bigger dog. The seller should include a sizing chart for this product.

Heads up.
I ordered a "Large" (without measuring) for my relatively small Labrador (60 lb) and I wish I'd ordered an "Extra Large" - i.e. the side stripe forms a belt and wraps around to close underneath with velcro - I can make it barely connect if tight, but not big enough.
Obviously my responsibility to measure first, but just a heads up about sizing as there's probably a bunch of us who just click thinking "large" is fine :)

The large fit my 55 lb Male Boxer perfectly. Through the years we have been buying my Boxers coats through either PetSmart or PetCo and the quality and selection have left much to be desired. The quality of the material and overall fit is outstanding. I also found the price of under 25 dollars very reasonable. I would also like to pass along that Kong makes a very good harness, however the collars are just ok.
