My Boyfriend got this rod combo with an apprehension about the graphite rod. After playing around with it at home. We added a 14lb mono test. Made a few leaders and took this bad boy deep sea night fishing in Miami, FL. This combo was AMAZING. It held up next to the bigger more expensive rods. Has a smooth cast and even smoother reel. We are getting another one!

Poor packaging led to the tip being broken when received. I had extra tips so I just replaced it but Amazon should use a box to ship these in stead of the plastic shipping bags to help protect it better. Other than that this is a good rod and reel combo for medium duty salt water fishing. Handles reds and small sharks just fine.

The picture for the Penn Pursuit II 6000-2 Piece Spinning Combo, 8-Feet/Medium-Heavy rod by Penn is not correct. It has a Split Grip. Overall it feels really good and it is also really smooth. I will be testing the rod soon. I will update the review later. 4/11/14

The rod that I received was a Penn 6000 combo 8 foot 2 peice but not the same as shown in the picture for item. The rod that I received was split grip design which I am not fond of. Really not worth the aggravation to send back though.
