If it squeaks, our big dog (a 190 pound blue brindle Cane Corso named Dante) is all over it. This includes various small mammals that trespass on "his" property, but excludes the same opossum that he has brought to me six times now. Dante picks up what he thinks is a dead possum and will not hurt it because it doesn't squeak or struggle. I know that it's the same one because I put a small orange mark on its tail. So this particular possum, now nick-named "Dead Ringer", puts up with Dante's shenanigans and simply wanders off thirty minutes after being deposited at my feet.
Previously we ordered the blue Nerf Football squeaker and it has been a real hit with Dante. While he hasn't been able to break the squeaker or tear up the toy, he has worried one of the ends so it looks a little fuzzy--but not abused. This new Nerf rubber squeaker is built tougher, is a bit harder to chew, but doesn't have any ends that Dante can work on to try to get the squeaker out. We rotate these toys for him to keep him interested. When we say "Dante, where's your toy?" he will take off for his toy basket and bring one of the Nerf's back with him. There are several other toys in his basket but these two are now the preferred ones.
So if you have a big chewer, it appears that the round yellow ball is more firm/tougher without an angled end to concentrate on. The blue Nerf football is a little less firm and seems to be his favorite of the two. If your monster is bigger than ours, you might want to pick up the yellow ball first to see if he likes it and can destroy it. If he can't, then maybe he will also like the Nerf football.
NOTE: Two days after I posted this review the squeaker quit working in this toy. Since the toy itself appears to be more rugged, the squeaker may be of a lesser quality. Two stars off because the squeaker is essential to this toy being interesting to our dog.
