I ordered this apron for a friend, and the first thing I noticed was the little girl modeling the apron on the packaging. The packaging also specifies "GIRL'S apron". I thought I misread the item and ordered the wrong thing. I went back to read it and it indeed says "WOMEN'S apron". I ordered an exchange, and received the same girl's apron. I realize that it's "one-size-fits-all" but that is not the case for a larger woman. I didn't expect something described as "flirty" to be advertised for children. The materials seemed fine, and the pattern/shape/cut was cute... it just wasn't what I ordered.

I purchased this for my neice for Christmas, to go along with a cookbook. It is much thinner than I was expecting, almost a papery feel to the material. The worst part however, was the packaging. The name "flirty aprons" along with a posed little girl... We took it out of the package before giving it to her.

Yes, I knew this wasn't an edible apron. It's just that the color description "chocolate" hits all the right buttons for this chocoholic. And the colors are very pretty: chocolate brown with "turquoisey" blue accent dots, blue ties, and a wide blue accent stripe around the bottom where the ruffles are attached to the rest of the apron. Oh, I forgot to mention the pocket. It's cute. Although I seldom use pockets in aprons at least it's there in case.

It also seems to be sturdily put together. No seams or edges that look like they could unravel or come apart easily. And it's cute and "flirty". Now, I'm thinking "flirty" is not very necessary for a 68-year-old who usually just cooks for the husband she's been living with for almost 45 years. Our flirty years seem to be past. We have more of a "you chop the onion and I'll crush the garlic" relationship in the kitchen. But it's nice to know I could be "flirty" if I tried harder.

Now, what are the cons? The problems I found with this apron were enough to bring the rating to 3 stars (or even almost 2):

1) The 100% cotton material is super stiff. I washed it once to see if it would soften and it didn't. The material has some kind of starchy sizing on it that doesn't want to wash off. Perhaps it needs many, many washings to get any softening going. I would really like the ruffles more on this apron if they were softer and draped prettily.

2) The washing instructions are "Hand wash cold. Do not bleach. Hang dry." Well, washing that way this apron may never soften. (BTW, I cheated and washed it in the washing machine. Nothing bad happened to it except that it didn't get any softer. I did, however, air dry it. My next "con" about this apron is the reason I did not put it in the dryer.Read more ›

I collect aprons, so I have over four dozen to compare this one against. I am also an avid home cook, so I wear aprons every day, sometimes more than one depending on how many meals I'm making. Oh, and I'm a curvy gal so I'm picky about my aprons.

This one is cute hanging up, but that's about it. It is extremely impractical for use in the kitchen, particularly for busty women since it just doesn't provide much coverage. And hand wash? It's an apron! With food stains being what they are, the thing needs to hold up to at least a warm wash cycle and the dryer.

So, if not a cooking apron, perhaps it's a "hostess apron" -- something you put on top of your outfit when entertaining so you look domestic and cute while passing out hors d'oeuvres or canapes? Perhaps, but due to the narrow bust you'll look rather odd, while the low placement of the ribbon will make your stomach look enormous and the incredibly stiff fabric will have you uncomfortable the entire time.

In short: you'll like this if you're very thin and only want to look like you've been cooking, but actually don't. For everyone else, it's a pass.

Item was super thin and very poorly made. I was so embarrassed give it as a gift that I bought another apron from a local store that I could touch and feel. Will be sending this item back if they will take it. Definition of junk in my opinion. I have never given a review before. I have a lot of patience and deal with stuff usually with an "oh well" attitude but this this is the worse thing I have ever purchased online. If it was the dirt I would never order online again.

This was pretty cute. I bought this for my daughter for Christmas along with a kids cookbook. She loved it. She is about 9 years old and wears a 6X. This fits perfectly. The straps are long enough to adjust for taller/shorter/skinny/chubby kids. No worries there.

Very adorable! Bought for 4th grade girl. She wears it a lot - even when not cooking. Fit is good she is about 4' tall. She will be able to wear for a while. My only concern is washing it. It's not a heavy duty material - and the stitching in a few spots is not tight. So I will be washing on the gentle cycle / hand wash cycle.
