the kibble is really small, way too small for a regular dog. I'm also a bit surprised about the ingredients, corn and soy are usually GMO and the company doesn't claim otherwise. Cat and dogs eat them but wonder a bit about the 'cheap' ingredients. So for a dog I def. prefer V dog and Petguard. I hope the company will use some better ingredients in the future as corn and soy are allergy triggers and soy is rather difficult to digest...

After 8 weeks of using this product, my previously totally healthy cat has developed urinary crystals so badly that his urethra is completely blocked and he cannot empty his bladder. Because of this, I am required to pay $3,000 for my cat to be hospitalized for this to be taken care of or else face a ruptured bladder. What a horrible, horrible mistake buying this product was.

My cat is not a cannibal! Thanks Wysong for making it so. If you want your pet to eat real beneficial animal protein, you could feed them real organic chicken or organic grass fed steak. As a vegan I am happy to know that I am bringing a product into my home that is conscious of the ingredients. There is plenty of plant protein in here for my kitten who loves this food and is beautiful and energetic. This is like feeding your cat superfood. This is the pet food i have found that i trust the most, after being a cat owner for 10 years. So far so good.

Allow me to enlighten you with excerpts from articles around the web:

Standard Pet food is made from many strange things, only a few of which are evident in the list of ingredients. The packaging tends to depict fat, healthy chickens; vegetables that look like they ought to win a ribbon at the county fair; and either thick, juicy steaks or sedate-looking cows. But at around $15 for a 15-pound bag of dry food, nobody is spending enough money to turn a T-bone into dog food. The stuff that ends up in dog food is material that can’t be sold as food for humans. We have different standards for what our animals eat from what we would put in our own mouths, but where should we draw the line?

Under Food and Drug Administration regulations, only about 50 percent of a cow can be sold for human consumption. The hide, bones, digestive system and it contents, brain, feces, udders, and various other undesirable parts are all left over after a cow is slaughtered and butchered. The stuff that can’t even go into hotdogs gets consolidated and shipped to rendering plants. Slaughterhouses that handle pigs and chickens also send their leftovers to rendering plants.

I really wanted this to work for my cats, but my older cat threw up every time I fed it to her. Even though I tried to transition her onto this food from her ordinary food over several weeks, her system was not able to deal with it. The reason she was on the sensitive-stomach (Royal Canin Special 33) food in the first place was because she can't tolerate "ordinary" cat kibble. ("Ordinary" meaning any Science Diet, Wellness, Blue Buffalo, etc high-end cat food, No Friskies or Purina at all.). I will keep trying, because transitioning my cats to a vegan diet is important to me. And strangely, I think it may be important to them (See notes below.) In the meantime, I want to care for them in the most loving and respectful way possible. Thanks to Wysong for developing this option, and thanks to their customers for trying it.

I hope this won't make you give up on your own quest to find a healthful vegan diet for your cats, wince I am sure it is possible. There is so much nutrition in the plant world that I know we can help our domestic pets to be as healthy as possible, without having to torture or slaughter one living animal to save another,

My yorkie used to be quite picky before we got this food. Now she's eating very well. Maybe it's because of the kibble size. Maybe it's because it doesn't make her vomit. Whatever the reason, she has energy for the first time in her life. We have no complaints.

I keep trying different brands of vegan kibble. Wysong currently has the best price on Amazon. It also has the highest amount of protein, possibly because it's for cats, too, and they need more protein than dogs. The size of the kibble is much smaller than any other kibble I've tried, again, possibly since cats have smaller teeth. My dogs eat it the same as all the other vegan kibble I've tried, by which I mean that they don't seem to either like the taste or dislike the taste any more than the other brands. One thing I've noticed is that the Wysong doesn't have much of a smell. Sometimes the other brands have very strong grain/bean smells. Since I'm not a dog, I can't say that I think this is good or bad. I'm happy with the product.

I have been giving this to our 2 dogs and 3 cats for about a year since we first discovered it online. All the animals seems happy with it, but took a little while to transition them over from the previous food they were eating. I order 20 or more pounds of this at a time to make sure we don't run out, since we can't but it locally anywhere. It's also really simple to put one food bowl out for all 5 pets, too.

I researched pet food and vegan options a TON online. I know a lot of people are all about animal protein this and animal whatever that and all the arguments for everything, but I also found plenty of research supporting opposing viewpoints. Basically, good healthy food with a couple supplements in the food (mainly just for cats) gives them everything they need and there have been lots of documented examples of long lived pets with vegan diets...happy and healthy and loved pets.

our dogs and cats are high energy, healthy, great. I highly recommend this food if you are looking for a Vegan alternative for pet food. All the Wysong products seem to have a lot of thought and research going into their products and they have a general philosophy that drives their level of quality and focus on health. (even if you fine something like that kinda whacky, it's a far better motivator for a company than just profits).
