Most of the other reviews have covered everything, I would like to point out something else though that was not documented anywhere that I could find and would like for others to avoid the pain I suffered figuring this out. If you own a ASUS Sabertooth Z87 motherboard (maybe others out there too!) this card will not be detected in any PCI x1 or x16 slot when you have two video cards already occupying 2 of the PCIE 3.0 X16 slots. The only way to get this card to work is to go into the bios/UEFI and manually set the speed of the extra PCIE slots to X4 mode instead of the auto which chooses either X4 or X8 but for some reason it chooses X8 with two PCIE 3.0 x16 graphics cards in the slots which it can't operate in with those slots occupied rendering the extra PCIE slots non functional. After sending this card for a DEA problem after trying everything and contacting ASUS support and having the same problem after I figured this out by messing with random PCIE related Bios settings and determined that you can not leave anything on AUTO select with this type of setup. I just hope that this comes in handy for anyone else experiencing the same issue. Now that it is setup correctly I have not experienced any issues at all and it is the fastest wifi adapter I have used, I'm only using it with a Linksys E2500 for now which is just 300Mbps on 5GHz but I get full bars and full speed with this adapter after using a cheaper Linksys usb model which I only got 2 bars and only 144mbps this is a welcome increase in speed and signal strength. I can recommend this model just watch out for weird motherboard issues. I'm docking a star here because although the card worked fine ASUS who makes this as well as my motherboard did not have the technical support skills or knowledge to help see me through this problem.

I previously used a powerline and experienced constant dc's ( on top of 25 mbps dl max when I have 100 mbps internet! :( ) So I figured I should buy this and see how well it performs.

Well...

I LOVE THIS ASUS WIFI ADAPTER!!! <3

I no longer experience random dc's and I get 95+ mbps dl at all times!
My room also have constant 4 out of 5 bar signal strength on 5GHz. :)

Highly recommended!

Normally I am a hardwired guy. I'm not into wifi, because I deal in large video files and because I prefer the security of a wired network over a wifi one. That being said, I just moved into a new home and can't run cables all over the place (that is until I start poking holes in the walls and running some serious Cat5e under the house, but I digress), so right now I am having to use wifi.
It is fine for my Nexus 5 and my iPad, but my big old tower PC didn't have a wifi card, so I did some research and grabbed this.

Actually I didn't do much research... only a bit really.

Anyhow this thing is the bee's elbows. It compliments my ASUS RT-AC66U wireless router quite well and manages to really get a great strong signal from across the house and thru a few rooms, including a metal filled kitchen and a hot water heater.

Oh and the base is magnetic, so now I have it stuck on the back of one of my monitor stands, so it doesn't take up any desk space.

The only complaint, as others have mentioned, is that it would be really nice to have a longer cable running from the card to the antennae base. It's a bit rinky dinky short, which isn't a problem in terms of having to find somewhere good to place it as it gets a really good strong signal. it is more an issue of having the freedom to place it where it is more convenient. Minor complain really.

I have recently installed the PCE-AC68 adapter from Asus. Initial connection displays 1300 Mbps and levels out around 866 Mbps at -44 dbm 25 ft from the router. File transfer of 7.5 Gb (single file) at sustained speeds of 28 MB/s on LAN (under 5 minutes). Enable beamforming, Enable Turbo QAM, and Enable interface mitigation were all selected. Bluray playback was smooth over LAN using PowerDVD 13 Ultra. There were a few noticeable pauses during 3D bluray playback initially in some movies I tested, but overall the adapter had enough bandwidth for 3d bluray content. (Media PC was connected directly to the router through copper Gigabit.)

The magnetic base unit allowed me to attach the external antennas on the side of my computer case keeping it out of the way and allowed convenient access.
The wireless PCIE card squeeze tightly beneath my dual slot video card, so I ended up moving the wireless card to a more spacious PCIE slot. Software driver installation completed successfully without any issues though the Asus wireless utility will not by default load during Windows 8.1 start up. This should not be an issue since the Windows wireless manager should have you connected.

Router:
Asus RT-AC66U with latest firmware
Connected on 5 Ghz band at 80 Mhz

System Specs:
Asus PCE-AC68
Windows 8.1 Prof x64
Intel i7 3930k
32 GB Quad Channel DDR3 2400 Mhz
Sabertooth X79 motherboard
