The toe box is roomy and the shoe well is deep enough to accommodate both my orthotics (for over-pronation) as well as my very tall cuneiform bone. In the past I have purchased trail runners structured for over-pronators but none of them work as well as this flexible, deep welled shoe. I have all kinds of foot/leg problems and stability shoes are just too stiff for trail running and their well was not deep enough so they put pressure on the top of my foot making it numb. I thought I'd try going the other direction: a minimal and flexible shoe and then make my own corrections. It worked!
Also, the tread is shaped perfectly for running up-hill, gripping the soil in the correct direction. The base and sides are stable while also allowing my toes to easily flex when I need to run on my toes. Perfect trail design.

I'm not sure what NB was thinking with this shoe. It doesn't provide the benefits of barefoot footwear-- the toe box is too constricting to allow for good toe placement and the sole isn't flexible. This shoe is just an excuse to leave out any arch support structure in a regular athletic shoe. I have wide feet and have to order wide widths online (b/c shops don't carry them anymore), but even in wide and my true size (I am a true US 7.5/EU 38), these shoes are too small in every dimension, even w/o the insoles! I unfortunately have to return them. I loved my previous generation NB Minimus shoes and am so disappointed that I am writing my first ever review.

These are a little more narrow than other NB I have ordered so by the end of the day my pinkie toes were a bit numb. The bottom is more spikey than it looks in photos, more like cleats, but rubbery so I could wear them on floors without damage. Super lightweight, which is what I was really looking for. And great traction.

This shoe has good potential. Minimus is my go-to sneaker because of Plantar Fasciitis and it has been a great solution. However, the arch on the L shoe feels as though its cut in just a few millimeters to far, as though I'm standing on a prominent seam. It is almost painful at first but then I seem to adjust. I didn't really notice it at first otherwise would have returned them. I will keep them for now but if you order be sure to wear them around the house to be sure they feel as you expect.

This is a cute shoe for someone who has narrow feet and small toe box.

I am baffled that this gets both a Minimus trail label AND more amazingly a "zero" one... maybe there's zero drop, but these have the most awkward soles to squeak on I've tried... and I've had okay-but-not-for-me WT101's and WT110's, hideous WO80's, ANNNND the shoes that ACTUALLY feel like what Minimus set out to be... barefoot running shoes. WT10, the original version, were amazing. So were the short-lifespan but awesome WO90, which were a grey (or brown) nubuck that was functionally waterproof, says someone in Seattle with its 8 months of rain! New Balance keeps making terrible mistakes that seem to come from a place of wanting to copy brands so very popular at REI--North Face, Altra, etc. Even the WT10s got strange of late, and I am frustrated that I'm looking at kids' non-cleat sporting shoes to find something truly minimalist--the new (v3) WT10 got shorter by a whole size--I'm a 6-7.5 in everything, so an 8.5 is kind of unheard of, but as bad as that is, this one is worse on all fronts: to match the length of everything else, which is ALWAYS EU37.5-EU38, these required a 9. Even going down 2 sizes, the heel is way looser. Everything else is narrower, even going up to that 9... The pain of these is they are very pretty colors, which is a bit rare with NB women's shoes in their hot pink and puke palettes, on a shoe that has all its weight on the bottom, which increases the likelihood of ankle rolling/balance displacement, and the WORST soles... I mean, it's bad to have a thousand deep pockets "for style's sake" in a sole for dirt to gather, making every day 10 minutes shorter if you don't want to drag a day of can't-catch-it-with-the-welcome-mat debris into your entryway... but these FEEL unstable, like tiny rubber daggers I'm meant to walk, eggshell-style, to keep perfectly even.Read more ›

Since switching to a zero drop shoe several years ago, I have never been able to go back. The minimalist running shoe has kept me injury free during running and training sessions. I began to add hiking and trail running to my weekly workout routine and found that wearing my hiking boots was not realistic for a relatively short hike/trail run, but my new balance zero drop street runners didn't give me enough grip on leafy trails. These are the perfect solution! They still allow natural barefoot movement with a zero heel-toe drop, but protect my foot and grip the trail really, really well! They fit true to size, although a bit more narrow than my NB wr00 (zero v2) street runners. I do wish they gave more color options in both styles, as I'm not a huge fan of purple and that is what I'm stuck with for both pairs. I'll take comfort and functionality over color, but it would be nice to have more color options! This is the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.
