I have been a drummer for 45 years and the older I get, the harder I play. I recently converted a set of Pearl acoustics over to electric with mesh heads and electric triggers. These heads hold up pretty well to even heavy playing. I pop one from time to time but I use to bust acoustic heads with about the same frequency. You have to keep them reasonably tight to get decent stick response and they do stretch so you have to retighten from time to time.

Ok, here's the deal, if you really want to practice drums where you normally can't, like in an apartment or bedroom that would bother people, then here's the ticket, but they are extremely quiet, so when you accidentally hit the rims it way overpowers the sounds of these heads. They are spongy and don't totally feel like regular heads, but that's some of the trade. I have always had trouble tuning my drums to specific notes due to the resonant head and the beater head not having the same tension, of course this is me personally, I find that since you are only tuning the resonance head (bottom) and tensioning the mesh head you can tune these quite easily, after realizing how easy it is to adapt these heads into an electronic type setup with triggers I think I will lean more to that at this point for volume control, I was hoping these would be a bit louder.

I just got this Remo 22in kick silentstroke drum head! I put it on right away to see how low the volume really is, and I'm blown away! I love it it reduced the sound of my kick drum the way I wanted it to! I wanted to practice at low volumes on my actual drum kit, and now I can! Buy it! I love it so will u! There are also Remo silentstroke drum heads for the snare and the toms.

The silent stroke does as advertised. I can now play my drums again and not disturb anyone in the house or wake the baby. The tone is a little different, but that is to be expected. I can say that I do like the sound these heads make on my bassdrums. I describe it as a "muted punch" I can't speak for the durability as these have only been on the drumset for a few days, however drum head durability can vary drummer to drummer so I am not concerned. I did buy the Evans black nylon bassdrum beater pads to put on these heads for extra durability. As a bonus, the evans pad muted the heads a bit more! The point is that these heads are QUIET!

These are great! Shipped fast and arrived nearly a week before the estimated arrival. These are great for practicing, they make VERY little noise while still maintaining a similar feel of a real drum kit. I found that tuning them down works better because they are not as "bouncy" and give for a more realistic feel. I was missing the sound of real drums, so I ended up triggering these and it works good.
