This product looks SO simple to put together, yet it took me about 3 days to complete. That's about 20 minutes a session before I got frustrated and gave up each time. Here's the rundown of what to avoid that the directions don't tell you:

1. It says to put the plastic insert rings into the shelves. This is correct. It does NOT point out that there are little lines along the plastic that lock it in place and if you accidently shove the ring in where one of those lines matches up with the screw hole -- then you can't put the screw in!! You will need to drill out some of the plastic to fix this. As soon as the plastic it put into the ring, it's not coming out and it can't be rotated.

2. If you put a screw in too tight (which is probably the correct tightness when you are done) it actually bends a mark into the pole which you never see. Even though the third step is to put the screws in lightly I say skip it and do it last. It's almost impossible to put the screw in enough to stay in place but not bend the plastic. Once it's in far enough to bend the plastic you can not longer get the baskets on the pole and if you screw it in while it's on the pole -- it actually bends a dent into the metal pole that you cannot see. That's good for keeping it in place, but horrible if you accidently put a dent into the top pole which includes the spring. The spring no longer easily goes into place and it cannot be fixed. Just a word of warning, just leave the screws to the last step.

3. It says you can put the baskets in any order, but keep physics in mind when putting it together. Don't put a basket too high that you can accidently 'pull' the caddy and try to put the majority of the weight (the largest basket) on the bottom. Test out different items and make sure the one that holds your scrub is high enough from the basket below it before locking it in place.

How to begin this review. Hmm. Well, I can start off by telling you that I am no shill. But, you've probably already surmised that based on the title of this review.

Second, I will tell you the good things - of which there are exactly two. One is that the metal that the poles are crafted from are quite sturdy, which is a pleasant surprise, probably, to many of you. The other good thing is that the baskets that are used with the . . . apparatus, I suppose you can call it, are of reasonably generous proportions. They look like they can hold quite a bit of stuff - one has a washcloth rod and another has hooks for lufas or scrubbers or whatever else you might hang in the shower.

But that's it. The rest of this review is going to be about everything that's wrong with this abomination.

You know those crappy shower things like this that you buy at Target or Wal*Mart or K-Mart that you HATE, because they are just wobbly pieces of thin aluminum? Yeah, those. They're awful, right? But there is one thing that those deathtraps get right: the top and the bottom ends of the oh-so-fragile pole is tipped with a rubber cap that is designed to keep the device standing shamefully in the corner of your shower for a few weeks before it breaks. These pieces of rubber have the particular useful quality of being rather good at maintaining grip with the ceiling and floor of your shower, even when they get sloshed with water, soap, shampoo, conditioner, bath oils, bubble bath, moisturizer, shaving cream, baby oil, KY Jelly, or whatever else gets slathered about in there. I'm not judging. The point is, those rubber grips work.

I searched high and low for a tension shower caddy that would go in my modern bathroom - at a decent price as many of these things are >$100. I came across this one and it was on sale for about $45 at time of purchase. There was one common complaint in the dozens of reviews I scoured that I must agree with: I can't get the right fit/amount of tension in the pole. The description states that it is adjustable from 5'-9'. Upon opening the box I saw that I had two different length tension rods which are what changes the length of the pole. As many other people reported, my shower floor-ceiling length is just in between the two poles: long tension pole makes caddy too long to install in my bathroom and the shorter rod doesn't give me enough tension. I decided to just use the shorter pole so that I could at least use the caddy. I have to admit that as long as I don't bump into the caddy - it works just fine. I am quite a bit worried about having house guests and having to forewarn them that they may have to worry about the shower caddy coming down on them in the shower if they bump into it.

Though all in all - it is absolutely beautiful (love the razor hooks and the wash cloth bar) -- I've only been using it about a month -- if I find that it begins to rust, I'll let y'all know :)

THREE AND ¾ STARS. So I absolutely love the look. I have a 1959 home that we're rehabbing room by room, and it will be a while till I get the Master Bath of my dreams. So I'm trying to make the best of out an outdated and sometimes a bit shabby/run down situation. The item itself is very handsome, looks sturdy and has the appearance of a high quality rack that is much heavier than it is. I am hoping that it will last a long time. The variety of the shelving is nice. I can use each one for different things, and the extra features such as towel rack and razor holder are pretty sweet. My Schick Hydro razor doesn't really fit vertically to hang in the holder but it lays nicely horizontally, which is better cause it isn't in the way of pulling the stuff off the shelf underneath. The towel rack is nice for hanging exfoliating cloths, washcloth or loofah pad to dry.
Assembly was clumsy but good. The pole caddy I was replacing was a piece of crap, designed in a similar way but had no little hex screws to keep the shelves in place. Instead it had rubber baskets that used the weight of the shelves and friction from keeping it from sliding down. The problem was if you accidentally hit one and pushed it up a little, it would go skipping down a couple of inches and knock everything about. This product resolved that by having each shelf secured with a hex screw in the back once you place it at the desired height. Installation was a little tricky, as I was trying to get it in as tight as I could without buckling, and I had to pull it out and adjust a few shelves a couple of times because after I put all my stuff back in it I didn't like where they were.
